Attracting over 67,000 global visitors and with over 2,300 brands on show, Maison et Objet is one of the most influential European design events, setting the interiors standard for upcoming trends, whatโs hot and whatโs next.
On the ground in Paris and sharing an inside scoop on what trends to look out for, was Temple & Websterโs director of insights & trends, Lucy Sutherland, who has curated a future interiors trends report on all the styles, shapes, textures and colours weโll be seeing in the future.
Trends to look out for:
Earthy cocoons
This trend focuses on creating beautiful, inviting and cocoon-like spaces full of layered textures and earthy neutrals. The incorporation of tactile fabrics and round enveloping shapes creates spaces that are conducive to relaxation. Swivel chairs are still proving popular, providing a multifunctional option in living areas.
When it comes to colour trends, we will see more warm natural colours of terracotta, rust and clay being paired with olive greens and warm sandy neutrals. Itโs all about bringing warmth and cosiness while retaining sophistication. The boucle trend is still strong alongside corduroy, tweeds and wool providing the ultimate pared-down comfort. Elevating the trend, there will be a lot more natural materials such as linen, raw wood, rattan and cork incorporated.

70s revisited
Fun and quirky, this trend will see more people embrace the introduction of bright colour combinations such as claret and mustard together with interesting decor in coloured glass and glossy finishes. Texture and pattern can be added to the playful nature of this trend, with fun, brutalist shapes in futuristic pieces such as side tables and coffee tables. Adding even more colour, weโll see accent colours of sky blue, deep inky blue and terracotta incorporated. Using mixed materials, chrome and aluminium will be the metals of choice with fringed cushions and textured fabrics also adding a playful finishing touch.

Organic shapes
This trend is all about rounded organic shapes. Taking influence from futuristic-style shapes using natural materials, this trend is all about embodying exaggerated scales with tufting and scalloping on furniture such as chairs. Mushroom shapes will be a continued theme, especially in lighting and accessories.
