The best homes don’t just look good – they adapt and evolve with how you live. With craftsman-made, versatile furniture at the heart, in the next chapter of Castlery’s collaboration with renowned interior stylist and author Steve Cordony, he explores the secret of flexible design to create spatial alchemy and emotionally resonant homes that shift easily depending on your lifestyle. This philosophy of adaptable design is demonstrated in his approach to the collection’s hero pieces, where one setting seamlessly transforms for any occasion.

“Each look represents the feeling of summer in Australia with a touch of European elegance. Entertaining is a key part of our Australian culture, it’s all about texture, light, air and natural elements that make you feel grounded. With the Isla outdoor dining set, I wanted to show two different ways of styling which represent how we live – a styled formal approach contrasted with a casual and relaxed tablescape,” said the Castlery ambassador.
With a focus on natural materials and organic forms, Steve was first drawn to the generous scale and inviting comfort of the Lorna outdoor sofa. “Rattan finishes with timber and stone always remind me of warmer months – the bold forms of the Lorna outdoor sofa, together with the sleek lines of the Isla dining setting and a nod to vintage with the solid Turkish travertine Belmont dining table, created a very modern but nostalgic capsule collection.”

True luxury lies in the inviting comfort, oversized proportions and universal style that suits a range of spaces – a philosophy that drives every piece in Steve’s curation. For him, the best furniture doesn’t dictate how you live, it supports however you want to live. The same Isla setting that hosts elegant dinner parties becomes a workspace by day, while the Lorna sofa transitions from afternoon reading nook to evening entertainment hub with no more than a styling switch.

Every Castlery piece is designed to be lived with, crafted for memory making and meaning pieces that endure, adapting beautifully to life’s changing rhythms while retaining form, function, and emotional warmth. For Steve, this longevity begins with understanding spatial flow – a timeless approach that transcends trends.
“The layout should always inform placement of furniture from where to build to the entire room. There is always one hero furniture item within a room to start building upon,” he explained. “For example, in the living room, a sofa; the dining room, a table. Then bring in the occasional pieces and start layering the space so it feels functional and multi-dimensional. Once you have this base, personality is introduced in the form of artwork, accessories, rugs, objects, flowers, books to give your space personality and charm.”
Steve’s thoughtful curation of expertly crafted indoor and outdoor pieces that exemplify his philosophy – to create homes that adapt and evolve, where a summer dinner party spills from dining room to terrace without missing a beat.
