As someone obsessed with interiors, I used to think I had to choose between a chair that looked good and one that felt good. But in my advancing middle age I’ve realised that a stylish and unsupportive desk chair is no longer an option. My back agrees!
But guess what I’ve found at Officeworks of all places? A stylish and ergonomic option that, at $399, offers premium features you’d expect to pay twice the price for, and is a green choice too. Plus, it comes with a very reassuring (and unheard of?!) 15-year guarantee. That’s going to get your kid through to the end of high school if it’s for them.
I’ve been road testing the Pago AirForm Synchro Ergo Chair in my home office this week. It comes in three on-trend and easy to style colours (Peach Orange, Forest Green and Ash Grey) and it has all the ergonomic bells and whistles so you can happily sit on it all day without your back suffering. And with most of us still working at least some of the week from home, this stuff is important.
But back to the looks, because let’s face it, if you’re an Interiors Addict, these things matter to you. Instead of the predictable colours usually offered as an alternative to harsh black, these muted hues will work in many interior schemes.
You might pick the peach because it works well in your open plan living space (rather than sticking out like an ugly sore thumb!), your teenage son might prefer the green at his bedroom study desk, or, if you’re buying for your small business, you might play it safe with the grey. Regardless, it’s nice to have options!
The fact the metal elements are bone coloured rather than the usual black makes such a big difference. This chair looks like it begins in a home rather than a corporate setting. And I should mention it only took me 15 minutes (if that) to assemble out of the box.
Here’s what really sealed the deal for me โ beyond looking good and feeling brilliant, this chair is environmentally conscious, with 100% recycled fabric and recyclable components. Love that!
The Pago AirForm Synchro Ergonomic Chair, with its aesthetic design, sports a unique 3D Airflow back with continuous lumbar support, and all-terrain Ghost castors (which glided across both my hard floor and rug) on a modern white spider base. I personally really noticed the lumbar support as I do suffer a bit with my lower back.
I’d describe the chair as medium sized. Some desk chairs can be ginormous and not suitable for home office setups. This one is generous in seat size but still compact enough that it fits nicely behind my desk.
It has a fully self-adjusting weight balance Posturesure Synchro mechanism with a depth adjustable seat. The mechanism automatically adjusts the tension the backrest exerts on you, promoting correct posture and long-lasting comfort even during extended periods of use. It has adjustable arms and an optional matching headrest, available to buy separately.
The 5-star reviews on Officeworks’ website show this option offers a lot more for your money than other similarly priced (and definitely not as stylish) chairs. It definitely gets the Interiors Addict tick of approval!
RRP $399 or $448 with headrest. Headrest available separately at RRP $49.
