Today I’m sharing my boys’ new shared bedroom which has been a resounding success! And boy, am I not missing making up bunkbeds (I know, I know, you all told me not to go there!). We swapped our bigger guest bedroom with the boys’ bedroom (they’re still choosing to share which suits us!) and they’re very happy in their two new single beds!
From a mum perspective, it’s so much easier to make their beds and to hop into bed with them to read a book or to give them a cuddle! Look, the bunkbeds were great for space-saving; you can’t argue with that. But in this new room we can comfortably fit two singles with room to play, so it makes much more sense. I’m also really happy we have reused lots of things from their old room, just changing the beds and adding fresh linen and a new (discounted!) rug.
I’m going to share the details of everything in the room below as there’s never enough space on Insta! But let’s talk about these (gifted) Boori beds which are exclusive to Forty Winks and also come in pink and white. They’re the Boori Altona in Blueberry & Almond in single (also available in king single, double and bunks) with the matching Universal Underbed Storage Drawers. The quality is honestly excellent and I love the playful and solid design. If you get them, definitely get the drawers. They’ve got so much space and I love they don’t run the full length of the bed which makes the room look more spacious. They also have two ‘levels’ inside them.
Most of the decor in this room is from their old room because I don’t like waste for the sake of a whole new look, and I had already made the effort to go with a fun and colourful but pretty timeless look, so it didn’t need changing up. The fab artwork is from small business Alphaberts (sitting on two IKEA picture ledges and also attached to the wall for extra safety!) and comes in many different colour options. The bunting (come on, I’m English!) is from Castle & Things and the locker is from Mustard and works well as a shared bedside. The soccer lamp is new from IKEA and the washable rug is new from Oh Happy Home.
I wanted one of Oh Happy Home’s washable rugs forever. I love their designs, that they’re ethically made and a female-owned Australian small business. I was lucky enough to score this large one in a seconds sale and it’s beautiful, super soft and great for lying on.
