Bold Baby have announced the launch of the world’s first fully customisable cot, and it’s a game changer.
The cot is designed to inject colour, creativity and a bit of personality into your children’s spaces and has been released after four years of meticulous design and safety testing.
The brand was founded by husband-and-wife duo Jim Walsh and Megan Cooper. Bold Baby’s story began when they had their first child. Jim upcycled a hand-me-down cot by giving it new ends with painted designs, and the idea for a cot that incorporated art was born.
Family life and the arrival of two more children took over, but in 2020, amid Melbourne’s lockdowns, the idea took shape. Jim, inspired by Melbourne’s vibrant art scene and regular visits to the National Gallery of Victoria, coupled with his passion for art and design, began thinking differently about children’s furniture.
The cot’s unique interchangeable panel system is what sets it apart. Each cot includes four double-sided panels, offering 16 different combinations that parents can swap in and out as their child grows – or as their mood changes. The concept taps into a growing demand from modern families who want nursery spaces that grow with them and reflect them, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
It’s not just about aesthetics, either. Research in colour psychology shows that the visual environment plays a crucial role in a child’s emotional and cognitive
development. Bold Baby empowers parents to intentionally design their nursery using colour in a way that supports their child’s growth and development.
Crafted from sustainably sourced European beechwood, the cot is as functional as it is beautiful. With two adjustable mattress heights, smooth rounded edges, and a toddler bed conversion coming soon, it’s designed to adapt across early
childhood, offering safety, durability and timeless appeal. It’s also compatible with future panel collections, giving families even more ways to refresh the look over time.
