Happy birthday to Interiors Addict!

Wow. One year ago today I made my first post! It was about using milk bottles, jam jars and the like to displays flowers instead of the same old boring vases! How far it has come! I almost can’t remember life before blogging! Interiors Addict has allowed me to realise my true passion and to indulge it every day and share it with like-minded addicts like you. How lucky am I? Very.

I’ve met so many amazing people on this first year of the blogging journey. 12 months ago I didn’t know anyone in the Australian interior design industry. Now I know pretty much every stylist and designer worth their salt and what a talented, generous and friendly lot they are. I never cease to be amazed by how supportive and lovely people have been to me. After all, what do I really know about interior design compared to some of these experienced and super clever people? I might have a passion for this stuff, but it is their work and their talent and creativity that inspires me, day in, day out.

I’ve also made great friends and I can’t let this birthday post go past without mentioning two amazing girls I’ve met through Interiors Addict. Together, Emma Blomfield, Naomi Findlay and I call ourselves The Design Dorks and if there’s a trade show to be visited, you can bet we’ll be there together, oohing and ah-ing over cushions and gossiping about all manner of topics! Love you, ladies! (incidentally, we’ll be celebrating the blogoversary with dinner on Thursday night).

In December, I was named one of 20 bloggers to watch in 2012 by Problogger, last month I was featured in Real Living magazine, next month I’ll be attending the Belle Coco Republic Interior Design Awards and later this year I’ll be speaking at a major industry event (I can’t tell you which yet). These amazing things just keep coming my way and I feel hugely grateful.

Last month saw Interiors Addict migrated from Tumblr to WordPress, just another part of the journey and hopefully a good longterm home for the blog. I certainly have every intention of continuing to grow this baby and look forward to meeting many more fabulous people and sharing my interiors addiction with them for years to come!
