Building new isn't the only way to get a climate f Building new isn't the only way to get a climate friendly home. CSIRO research indicates that over half of the houses Australians will live in by 2050 already exist today. And those homes — from our 1950s weatherboards to mid-century gems — offer one of the most exciting opportunities to slash emissions, cut energy bills, and reimagine home design for a low-carbon future.

Welcome to the rise of retrofit culture: a movement that’s proving you don’t need to knock down to level up.

We're having this discussion on the blog today and sharing examples of two older homes given new, more sustainable, leases on life.

Head over via link in bio and stories.

Masterclass and dinner? I’d bring Becky French. She’s my best mate, has had her fist baby not long ago and also rescued me 16 weeks ago which she delivered my baby boy Harry who arrived a bit suddenly (in 44 minutes). She’s magic! I think we both deserve a day out with some laughs! 🙂

Now I’m really not kidding. I’d bring my mum! She is a lover of interiors, fabric, style and really everyone needs to have a bit of my mum in their lives! She is just great.

I’d take my sister – her family lost their home in a storm last Christmas Eve. After 10 long months of rebuilding (made harder being on a farm and far away from suppliers, stores etc), they’ve moved back home and she’s starting to decorate and furnish. As a city girl herself, she wants to bring elements of a modern, metropolitan home that will still complement her rural environment. This would be a fantastic night for her to get inspiration and put some well-deserved fun back into her family’s exhausting rebuilding process… as well as a nice excuse for her to visit me in Sydney for a mini break!

I am currently studying Interior Design and my heart quickens at all things interiors!! I will bring my gorgeous mum Maureen, she is my mentor, my best friend and unofficial counsellor all rolled into one. We are renovating next year and naturally the kitchen will need to be a ‘cuisine extraordinare’ as I love to cook up a storm! I would love an ‘Aga’ cooker, which my mum has in her kitchen. Unfortunately that would cost the entire kitchen budget, so I may just have to settle for an Electrolux!!

Oh My GOD! I was just thinking the other night i cannot live like this any longer!! how do we change it ? what do we do? We are currently living in the upstairs of our workshop which right now looks like someones half painted old shed with heaps of stuff aka junk! in it and one table (which my husband made me as a desk) as our dining space. We have some very basic ideas about a small kitchenette upstairs honestly and small $ . I don’t think we really know where to start We are cooking on an electric two burner downstairs in the workshop and basically living the life of industrial campers! We need an intervention – oh to eat in a clean sawdust free space on real chairs! at a real dining! table JOY!
And to have some help with the disaster upstairs, if i could show you a picture you would be there in a second the transformation opportunity is huge!

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and my gorgeous friend Tracy has welcomed us into hers this Christmas, since we will be orphans this year due to sick parents who can’t travel and siblings that are travelling. Tracy has just moved into a lovely new home and we could use some design inspiration from Jane, tips from electrolux and some dinner ideas for christmas. I would love to attend with Tracy to show her how much I appreciate her friendship.

What do women want?……a night out, a cooking class, some “on trend” decorating advice and a free dinner! And all of this presented in the Electrolux Inspiration Kitchen! Perfect! If I win I would bring along an amazing friend who deserves to be surprised with a special treat like this and to be equally inspired by the quality and experience that stands behind the Electrolux brand.

My mum and I go exploring all the amazing little and some large homeware and interior boutiques around Melbourne every few months for inspiration and new ideas, she asks me for advice on styling and help of what will suit her home and I do the same. – some of our favs are, tempted in Kensington, pomegranate in south melbourne and fenton and fenton in Prahran (we can only look there!)
I think it’s time we learnt from the master Jane Frosh, (whom I follow on Facebook, Cool Eadies, that is) and a mother daughter weekend away up in Sydney exploring all the home boutiques it has to offer would never go astray!

Can’t believe I just saw this fantastic comp after signing up on interior addicts blog page. Not only do I follow “Cool Edie’s ” on Instagram as well as Jen. I am minding my best friends 3 kids just now at her house and she has an Electrolux fitted out kitchen !! ( I had to get one of the kids to show me how to work the oven last night!! ) Her house is partly renovated but needs tweeking in the open plan kitchen/dinning/family area, where they spend most of their time. She is stressing out as her brother and sister are coming over from England this Christmas with their children after losing both their partners to the terrible “C”. And so wants it to be perfect and inviting for their visit to OZ. I’m need of a bit of tweeking myself on all fronts but feel I’d love to win this for her. She’s a great friend and has always been there and helped me out as I work shifts at the kids hospital with no family here ether.I’ve even offerd her that I’d take some annual leave to get things done before they come. But she won’t allow me as she knows I work full time so days off are precious. We’d make a good night off it and who can resist the Scottish !

I’m in serious need of some help designing and fitting out the new house we’re about to start building! Crippled with exitement and anxiety at the task ahead, an Electrolux/Addict/Cool Edies party could just be the inspiration I need! And I’d bring my bestest ever Sydney friend who I miss dearly since moving south of the border! She’d be beside herself, with renovations just a few months of saving away.

    Hiho Jane. Lise here.
You don’t know me, but I really dig your hair.
Wish I could be an Edie one day you see, or at least see an Edie in action with my friend MD.
MD is the nicest friend a girl could take, she’ s kind and clever and can really bake.
But not me I’m afraid, I’m a terrible cook. My rangehood doesn’t work and my stove has gone kaput.
Sorry for the terribly clumsy rhyme, I’m late but I’d really like to come and dine X
