Brad and Dale win the Block master bedroom suite reveal

By Jen Bishop •

FacebookPinWhatsAppEmailTweet

Well I never, Brad and Dale, with their brave bath in the bedroom, won last night’s (delayed!) room reveal. I’m a massive bath lover so it does appeal to me, although I have to say I don’t like the idea of the dust, and cleaning it, but hey, it’s rather unique and luxurious! I think a master suite should be a bit different and special like this, even if it’s not a 100% practical or a safe choice! What did you think?

brad and dale 2

Great bathroom too, in my opinion.

brad and dale 4

Get the look: Reece Pol shower mixer, Posh Domain round overhead shower, Nikles Pure Rail shower.

brad and dale 1

Get the look: Ziporah towels, Scala floor mounted spout, Sealy Posturepedic bed.

brad and dale 3

Chantelle and Steve were just half a point behind them this week and I really liked their effort too. I really liked the darker feature wall with built in bedhead and side tables.

steve chantelle 1

Get the look: Design by Boys cushion, mini macrame hanger, Cockatoo cushion, Enzo desk lamp, Chair Candy chair, Yvette pendant, Mark Douglas jelly light, watercolour artwork cushion.

steve chantelle 2

And how good are these basins?!

Get the look: Mark Douglas jewel light, Milli Axon chrome and black tap set.

steve chantelle 3

Next up my favourites, Alisa and Lysandra, although hand on heart theirs wasn’t my favourite this week. That said, how amazing is the void and the difference it makes to upstairs too? That was a brilliant decision, girls!

alisa lysandra 2

Get the look: Clouds artwork by Marija Basic, gumball pouffe, ripple throw.

alisa lysandra 1

Get the look: Concrete pendant, San Sebastian dining chair, butterfly cushion, Scoop pendant (in ensuite), Alisa & Lysandra Collections towels, Reece Milli black basin mixers, Teknobili ceiling mounted shower.

alisa lysandra 3

And last but not least, Kyal and Kara.

kyal kara 1

Get the look: Bill Sampson artwork, Zuster bedside tables, grey tweed bathroom towels, herringbone towels, Mizu Bloc overhead shower.

Absolutely stunning bathroom!

I've been meaning to post about getting out of hos I've been meaning to post about getting out of hospital in time for Christmas and spending a magical time with my beautiful family and friends for days now, but I was staying in the moment and off my phone. My wish came true and it really was amazing to enjoy that Santa magic.

Sadly, the day after Boxing Day, I ended up back in an ambulance after an internal bleed where my hemoglobin levels dropped dangerously low. I'm not very good at explaining the medical side, but after surgery and a couple of nights in ICU, I'm now on a ward and recovering well, hoping I get to return home ASAP.

I have so many thank yous to say for the incredible GoFundMe donations and kindness and support I've received. I really am blown away and so grateful. There are so many good people in the world, both strangers and those I'm lucky enough to know.

And having now received 6 bags of blood transfusion myself, another huge shout out to all donors. I felt so good to know I've done my bit donating over the years when I received someone else's life saving donation. Please consider doing the same and potentially saving a life.

Before ending up back in hospital, I was settling in well at home with daily visits from nurses and I'm hoping I can get back to that new normal again soon.

Thank you again to everyone for their kindness. And biggest thanks to @damianfrancis for truly spoiling me at Christmas and once again holding the fort at home. Our boys are so lucky to have you ❤️

Trigger warning: cancer. Home is SO important to Trigger warning: cancer.

Home is SO important to me, I even made a job out of talking about it. And having been stuck in hospital for 5 weeks, away from my sanctuary and my boys, I've never craved it more.

I'm going through the hardest time of my life and I'm finally sharing it here in the way I hope you've always known me to; with authenticity, realness and hope.

I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's devastating and life-changing news and feels very vulnerable to share. Sadly it's causing me so much physical pain, I can't manage it at home. Being stuck in hospital, on top of keeping this secret, has been very isolating.

Our precious boys are our number one priority and we are being very well supported by our medical team and amazing friends and family. I can't say enough about the huge role my husband is playing in keeping us together.

I've continued to work when possible because I love it and it's a big part of my identity. I want as much normalcy, distraction and positivity as possible right now. Some days I put my lipstick on and face the day with gratitude for all the good stuff, like my world class friends and amazing healthcare. But I'm only human and other days, I just can't.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I only have to look at my boys to know I cannot give up hope.

Thanks for all the love and support I know you'll throw my way but please respect my boundaries by not asking medical questions or making medical suggestions, and know that I won't be able to reply to everyone.

This beautiful community has supported me for over a decade and I'm sure your kindness will help me no end. And if you want to support me, keep reading the blog so my work isn't wasted!

I'll still be the main point of contact for Interiors Addict but things will look a little different as I continue my chemo (3 rounds down) and get used to my new way of life.

Right now, my only wish is to be discharged to my family for Christmas.

Because I can no longer give blood, if anyone would like to make a festive donation of blood or plasma on my behalf and share it with me here, that would really make my day ❤️

PS. Nurses are worth their weight in gold.

Yes – that bath is very contentious. You either love it or hate it. Like Marmite!

It reminds me of house hunting in Switzerland 10 years ago and there was an 80s renovation with baths in every bedroom. It gave an odd vibe. I wouldn’t like to lie in bed and see a bath. Plus, think of the wet towels, product bottles and general bath-time detritus. It would make it all very messy and soggy. Not at all luxurious!

But loved Steve and Chantelle’s bed head. That’s luxurious!

Thanks Emma. We were really pleased to work with Chantelle and Steve and design their upholstered wall. It’s custom made and really softens the room.

Just wondering if white linen bedding with beautiful lace has been supplied by House of Baltic Linen (http://houseofbalticlinen.com)- it looks very similar to their handmade pure linen bedding? I couldn’t find the supplier mentioned anywhere. Thanks

I’m not sure I’m afraid. Did you check the supplier lists on the Nine website?

  3. Jo says

At first I thought the bath was okay but the more I look at it the more I dislike it. I really don’t think that is what I would like to look at everytime I climbed into bex and I would be wanting to rip it out after a couple of months. I loved the boys bathroom except the glass door – there are some place I like privacy and the loo is one of them. I think Steve and Chantelle’s room was a standout.

The girls are definitely my favourites and I think that the void should have come into the bedroom judging. I think as overall apartments their’s is a standout with a beautiful kitchen, that awesome void, beautiful bedrooms etc. The only thing they need to do is put in a big rug and a gorgeous ottoman in the lounge and get rid of the ugly wooden feature and moss ( ?) in the bathroom.

    • gill ciprian says

      March 30, 2014 at 8:51 am

I agree with Jo some things should be private using the loo is one of them and like Jo I would be ripping the bath out it looks out of place
As for the bathroom did the boys think about cleaning all that glass a very daunting job.

  4. Libby O'Neill says

    March 26, 2014 at 12:19 pm

It reminds me of the hotels that have the open bathrooms, which I’m not a fan. I thought that the boys did a reasonable job but the luxe was really Steve and Chantelle’s bedroom and loved the bedhead it was amazing. Their bathroom I have to agree with the judges choice of style and textures just fantastic.

  5. Maryann says

    March 28, 2014 at 4:07 pm

The bath in the bedroom reminded me of the old westerns I use to watch on TV. Not to my liking but good the judges thought it was nice.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Dale and Brad’s winning room featured our very own locally (Melbourne) designed and made cushions. The designs the boys chose are from our (Hart+Barnes)100% linen range featuring green wash-patterned fronts with denim backs and contrast coral piping. Hope you fab Interiors Addict followers liked them!

  9. The Plumbette says

    March 31, 2014 at 6:44 pm

I loved the basins in Chantelle and Steves bathroom. I’ve always wondered about the cleaning practicality of basin traps like the ones in Brad and Dales Bathroom and the bath in the bedroom is a nice feature but not really a wow factor that the judges seemed to think.

I love the mirror Brad & Dale used in their master bedroom (they also used a smaller one for their re-do room).. does anyone know where they got it from? It is exactly what I am looking for!
