Long time readers will know I’m a big Anna Spiro fan so I’m LOVING her debut rug range with Designer Rugs. If there was ever a time we all needed a little (or even a lot of!) feel good colour in our lives, it’s now!
With over 20 yearsโ experience in the design industry, Anna is known for her clever use of pattern and colour and her inherent ability to create unique, comfortable and awe-inspiring environments that people want to linger in. With a bestselling book and a successful textile range under her belt, she has now turned her attention towards creating this beautiful collection of handmade rugs.
Consisting of two hand-tufted and two hand-knotted rugs, the collection is a feast for the eyes, featuring an eclectic yet elegant mix of floral motifs, striking geometrics, and joyful patterns. Each design was thoughtfully created to work seamlessly in a variety of spaces, from traditional to modern, minimalist to maximalist.
โI wanted to create a collection that reflected our love of pattern and colour, but one that also offered a mix of style options,โ says Anna. โAs an example, Ziggy works to add colour to a space but is a more plain, modern design which is perfect when put back with lots of patterned upholstery. Whereas Kandilli is very patterned and would look amazing with plain upholstery.โ
For each design to look its best, Designer Rugs has incorporated two different techniques to create this collection โ a first for the brand. Geometric designs Ziggy and Otto are hand-tufted โ a technique which creates clean lines and sharp edges. Floral designs Kandilli and Flora are hand-knotted, which has a more handmade feel and creates a softer finish.
โSomething I am really passionate about is that things of quality take a very long time to produce. You must be willing to wait for something made by hand that will last and stand the test of time,” Anna adds.
All three designs can be custom sized, shaped and coloured to suit any interior.
