California-born Hannah Beaden’s home is well known to her followers for its instantly recognisable plywood shelving that plays house to a mix of vintage and collected pieces, together with the everyday toys and trinkets synonymous with young children.

When it came to styling the living room for a shoot recently, the challenge wasn’t to reinvent or reshape, but to edit a little and add a layer without losing Hannah’s style and family life.
We spoke with stylist Hayley Jenkin of Wholehearted Studio about working in a home that already has an established visual language.

“My first impression was how much I loved Hannah’s vintage-meets-modern style,” Hayley said. “She’s a true creative, with a collection of beautiful vintage pieces, many of which I later learned were cherished heirlooms from her childhood. I wanted to honour that by embracing and curating what she already owned, while introducing an additional layer of styling and objects to bring her home to life on camera.”
She adds: “In an online world of curated perfection, authenticity has become king. To change everything entirely for an editorial feature would be very obvious to her loyal audience. It was important to me that we helped Hannah’s home look its best, while still being a true representation of her and her family.”

The star of the shoot was the 1970s-inspired Solari sectional sofa by Castlery, that Hannah has said will be staying in her Gold Coast home for good. “As a fellow 70s fan, I leaned into it,” Hayley said, “but made sure to surround the sofa with more modern, clean shapes to help it sit comfortably within the rest of the interior and give it a contemporary edge.”
Hayley draws on her local landscape of the Sunshine Coast’s beaches, surrounding hinterland and her parents’ farm, to inform her work. “You’ll see that influence come through in the homes I style, particularly in artwork and details that reference these environments.”
Asked what readers could borrow from the home, Hayley points to the curios throughout. “I would suggest embracing layers, objects of meaning and colour. Knitting projects mid-make in baskets, a record player on display, books in every room, toys within easy reach: these small details are a reminder that people truly live there. That, to me, is what makes this home feel special.”

For anyone wanting that same honed eye at their home, Hayley says it all starts with a conversation. “The best place to start is with one of our consults,” she said. “We begin by getting to know you, your home, and the way you want your spaces to function and feel, before developing a tailored creative direction that represents you. From furniture, artwork, objects and styling through to sourcing, procurement and installation, we look after each stage of the process, taking the overwhelm out of creating a curated home. I especially love styling homes that have some key pieces already, but would benefit from an added layer to bring their home to life.”
