Win paint and a professional painter to give your home a New Year facelift!

By Jen Bishop •

FacebookPinWhatsAppEmailTweet

This post is sponsored by Haymes Paint

Christmas and New Year are over so you know what that means (as well as going back to work and the gym)? Countdown to Australia Day is on! To celebrate, I’m running a fab competition in association with Haymes Paints and the prize is to have a room in your home professionally painted in the colour palette of your choice. What a great way for two of you to kickstart any New Year renovation plans!

Haymes colour and concept manager Wendy Rennie has put together three Australian-inspired colour palettes. To enter, just tell us which scheme you think is most Aussie and why.

Here are your choices:

Palette one: The Outback

The Australian outback is rich with colour – deep oranges, reds and ochres coupled with contrasting charcoals and neutrals.

Haymes colours: Rapunzel, Night Moves, Black Pitch, Worn White, Moon and Stars.

Palette Two: Sun, Surf and Sand

The relaxed lifestyle of Australians is synonymous with the beach, particularly as we are lucky to have some of the best beaches and coastline in the world.

Haymes colours: Barely There, Basic Instinct, Blue Mosaic, Danube Sky, Valley of Stars.

Palette Three: The tropics

The tropical climate in the north creates some extraordinary and diverse colours, rich with life.

Haymes Colours: Intuition, Soothe, Marble Mist, Currency, Chlorophyll.

How to Enter

Email your entry, including the palette you think is most Aussie and why, and which room you’d love to have made over, to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 14 January 2012, with Haymes in the subject line. Two winners will be chosen by Jen Bishop and Haymes and announced on Australia Day.

Conditions of entry

Open to Australian residents only. Winners must agree to have their madeover room photographed for Interiors Addict. By entering you agree to your email address being passed to the sponsor.

I've been meaning to post about getting out of hos I've been meaning to post about getting out of hospital in time for Christmas and spending a magical time with my beautiful family and friends for days now, but I was staying in the moment and off my phone. My wish came true and it really was amazing to enjoy that Santa magic.

Sadly, the day after Boxing Day, I ended up back in an ambulance after an internal bleed where my hemoglobin levels dropped dangerously low. I'm not very good at explaining the medical side, but after surgery and a couple of nights in ICU, I'm now on a ward and recovering well, hoping I get to return home ASAP.

I have so many thank yous to say for the incredible GoFundMe donations and kindness and support I've received. I really am blown away and so grateful. There are so many good people in the world, both strangers and those I'm lucky enough to know.

And having now received 6 bags of blood transfusion myself, another huge shout out to all donors. I felt so good to know I've done my bit donating over the years when I received someone else's life saving donation. Please consider doing the same and potentially saving a life.

Before ending up back in hospital, I was settling in well at home with daily visits from nurses and I'm hoping I can get back to that new normal again soon.

Thank you again to everyone for their kindness. And biggest thanks to @damianfrancis for truly spoiling me at Christmas and once again holding the fort at home. Our boys are so lucky to have you ❤️

Trigger warning: cancer. Home is SO important to Trigger warning: cancer.

Home is SO important to me, I even made a job out of talking about it. And having been stuck in hospital for 5 weeks, away from my sanctuary and my boys, I've never craved it more.

I'm going through the hardest time of my life and I'm finally sharing it here in the way I hope you've always known me to; with authenticity, realness and hope.

I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's devastating and life-changing news and feels very vulnerable to share. Sadly it's causing me so much physical pain, I can't manage it at home. Being stuck in hospital, on top of keeping this secret, has been very isolating.

Our precious boys are our number one priority and we are being very well supported by our medical team and amazing friends and family. I can't say enough about the huge role my husband is playing in keeping us together.

I've continued to work when possible because I love it and it's a big part of my identity. I want as much normalcy, distraction and positivity as possible right now. Some days I put my lipstick on and face the day with gratitude for all the good stuff, like my world class friends and amazing healthcare. But I'm only human and other days, I just can't.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I only have to look at my boys to know I cannot give up hope.

Thanks for all the love and support I know you'll throw my way but please respect my boundaries by not asking medical questions or making medical suggestions, and know that I won't be able to reply to everyone.

This beautiful community has supported me for over a decade and I'm sure your kindness will help me no end. And if you want to support me, keep reading the blog so my work isn't wasted!

I'll still be the main point of contact for Interiors Addict but things will look a little different as I continue my chemo (3 rounds down) and get used to my new way of life.

Right now, my only wish is to be discharged to my family for Christmas.

Because I can no longer give blood, if anyone would like to make a festive donation of blood or plasma on my behalf and share it with me here, that would really make my day ❤️

PS. Nurses are worth their weight in gold.

Ohh I hate having to choose as they’re such beautiful images and colours. However I think that for the majority of Australians” Sun, Surf and Sand” perfectly reflects Australia. A minority of people live in the Tropics and fewer still in the Outback which has longe been the traditional image of Australia. But for most of us coast dwellers the salty air and bright, clear colours of the beach are Australia.

what a great competition! Id say the second one ‘ Sun Surf & Sand’…its so Australian to me and reflects our beautiful open sky and cool sea and the golden shoreline that surrounds our wonderful land! Id makeover my sons room – he’s 10 now so a makeover would be perfect. His room get a little dark as it doesnt see that much natural light so these beautiful colours would be ideal!!

I believe that Haymes sun ,surf and sand mosaic is the most Australian as it is what we are renown for all over the world. Most people, from Australia as well as overseas, have images of Bondi and beaches as part of the quintessential Aussie lifestyle.

Congratulations to one of the Winners Wilma! I am a part of the Management team at Johnson Painting Group, we had the pleasure of painting and working with Haymes and Wilma to transform a lovely space for Wilma the lucky winner.
We also received some feedback from Wilma. We really appreciate any feedback and in this particular case, the very kind words.

Several weeks back I was fortunate enough to win a competition to have the inside of my house painted. Haymes Paint ran the competition through their official website and on their facebook page. I was overwhelmed when a Haymes employee called to let me know the good news. My house desperately needed painting. The yellow painted walls made me cringe and I was a tad embarrassed when I invited guests over to my house. Not only was the colour awful, but I had cracks in the walls and peeling paint on the ceilings in virtually every room.

The Haymes representative advised me Johnson Painting Group will provide the painting service for me. The representative told me they chose Johnson Painting Group because they are one of the best painting companies in Melbourne. Later that day, Jason Stubbs called and arranged to meet me at my house to see what work was required and to provide a quote. Jason arrived exactly on time. I was already impressed. He also provided invaluable information to help me decide on paint colour and paint options for my walls and woodwork. Jason arranged to have the painters come to my house at a time suitable to me.

When the painters arrived a few days later, I was impressed again…they arrived on time. So often I have had tradesman tell me they will come on a certain day or time, and 3 hours later, and many calls later, I am still waiting. But not with Johnson Painting Group. The painters worked efficiently, neatly and professionally. Every crack in my wall was repaired, peeling paint fixed and the walls, ceiling and wood work was beautifully painted. I was really impressed by their hard work ethic, professionalism and tidy work. After completing the job, they even cleaned up by sweeping and vacuuming up dust from my walls.

Johnson Painting Group have transformed my dated 70’s home into one that now looks modern and fresh. I would recommend Johnson Painting Group to anyone who is after a perfect and professional looking paint job.

    Wilma B.

Thanks once again for the opportunity to work with some amazing people!

    Matt – Johnson Painting Group.
