Hallways can be tricky to style and often completely missed opportunities. Take some inspiration from last night’s bonus hallway reveals on The Block, where Neale Whitaker judged Courtney and Grant the winners.
House 1: Maddy and Charlotte
Maddy & Charlotte’s hallway zig-zags along the bedrooms and includes a linen cupboard. Whilst Neale thought the execution was fantastic, he thought it could do with even more artwork in addition to the “lovely artworks” by Emma Stenhouse and Holly Sanders. Neale thought perhaps a mirror might be a nice inclusion to make the space feel bigger.
Our picks to buy: Through the Sea Garden canvas and wall lights in stone
House 2 (the winner): Courtney and Grant
Courtney & Grant have created an open space in their hallway to allow for a seating area with Courtney’s Lazy Stylist occasional chairs as well as a striking check Block Shop rug. Neale just loved the Equinox Brown Marble Wall Lights by Beacon. Not to be missed are the spectacular artworks by Theo Papathomas and Kylie Sams.
Our picks to buy: Marble wall lights and marble side table
House 3: Ricky and Haydn
Ricky & Haydn have the longest hallway which is filled with natural light from sun tunnels and they were the only team to have a walk-in linen cupboard. Neale thought the use of the Hardie Panelling gave the hallway excellent detail. Gorgeous artwork by Natalie Uhrik brightens up the space. Neale wasn’t sure about the yellow doorway colour.
Our picks to buy: No Ordinary Love canvas and Disk LED wall light
House 4: Kylie and Brad
Kylie & Brad have styled a breakout space specifically for kids in their hallway. Neale wasn’t too sure about that idea. The hallway was styled with a vibrant Anne Marie Jenner artwork as well as Kylie’s surfboard from the surfboard art challenge. Everything is neatly tucked away in the gorgeous Lido TV Cabinet from The Block Shop.
Our pick to buy: Summer Vibe limited edition print
House 5: Kristian and Mimi (no pictures available)
Kristian & Mimi had the biggest task with two hallways and a staircase, but the curse of hell week was their undoing when they were unable to present a finished space. Neale could tell from the few details that they put in, including a fantastic trio of artworks by Kylie Daniel, that it was going to be amazing when complete!
