If you’re looking for a new year home refresh on a budget, go get in your car and head to Kmart. Their latest home drop is in stores now and it’s their biggest homewares collection to date with pieces starting from $1.75 – yes really! Sydney interior designer Kathryn Bamford talks us through her favourites.
Designed to make refreshing your space effortless, Kmart’s new homewares collections blend trend-led design with everyday value, delivering irresistible pieces across furniture, décor, bedding, dining and appliances — essentially ticking every box for interior lovers on a budget.

My picks are the 50cm Stripe Cushion in Mocha ($10), Stonewashed Australian Cotton Waffle Throw in Tan ($20) and the Nico Portable Rechargeable Lamp in Chrome ($19).
A standout is the new Trove 3 Seat Sofa, which showcases Kmart’s growing focus on smart, accessible design. It’s joined by fresh furniture collections featuring bold curves, sculptural silhouettes and modern mixed materials, proving that affordable furniture doesn’t have to mean compromising on style. It’s only $599 and comes compressed like a mattress in the bag, expanding within minutes and is full size after 72 hours!

Created by Kmart’s in-house design and buying team in Melbourne, the February Living range draws inspiration from global interiors trends. The palette brings together soft neutrals with richer tones — think deep chocolate, muted greens and serene blues — creating a layered look that feels both modern and timeless.
According to Kmart merchandise director Meryn Serong, this might be their most exciting homewares collection yet.
“We’ve expanded our furniture into more categories so Australians can complete more rooms in their home, while keeping price front of mind,” she says. “This season features marble-look designs for high-end style at a low price point, velvet chairs, walnut-look furniture and a host of new kitchen and laundry essentials designed to create beautifully harmonised spaces throughout the home.”

As part of the latest drop comes an exciting range of new dinnerware pieces that prove you don’t need to spend big to dine beautifully. If you’ve been waiting for a dinnerware update that feels classic enough to live with every day and stylish enough for weekend entertaining, meet the new Bistro porcelain range. Incredibly classic and timeless with a blue and white colour palette with soft curves.

I am loving the cotton napkins and tablecloths in on-trend colours and quality fabrics — the kind of foundational pieces every home entertainer should have on hand. They make the best base for tablescaping.

If history tells us anything, some items won’t stay on shelves for long. These are all part of Kmart’s February Living range, available in stores now or online while stocks last.
