Do you need a killer ‘about’ page, marketing copy, case studies, brochures, email newsletter content, website copy, product descriptions, eBooks, blog posts, lead magnets or video interviews? Do you need an experienced editor’s opinion on whether your media pitch is newsworthy or how to make it more so?
Writing for all your business needs
Would you like someone to interview your happy customers and write up their testimonials? Perhaps you already have all these things but need your content to be refreshed this year, in order to make it more engaging and compelling?
I mean let’s face it, the humble About page is where most of us start when doing our research on whether to work with or buy from a new business and I’ve seen some seriously uninspiring ones in my time. Never underestimate its importance! And nobody gives away their email address these days without some valuable content in return! Let me write and organise the graphic design of that eBook!
As a writer all my adult life, storytelling is what really lights me up. It’s what I enjoy, what comes naturally and what I know I’m best at. I’m finally offering this as a service to brands of all sizes and in all industries in addition to my work on Interiors Addict. I want to help all business owners share what makes them really great at what they do, and help them stand out.
Expert advice on pitching to media/your ideal customer
Having been pitched to by PR people and business owners for decades, I know exactly what makes the difference between hitting delete or reaching out to someone for more information in order to share their newsworthy story with my audience (for free!). Not sure where to start? I can consult to you (on an hourly or day rate) about your content strategy and how to get more media coverage. Maybe you’re a PR agency who needs a bylined article written or a Zoom workshop presented on how to pitch better to journalists?
Rich & varied experience
While most people know me as the Interiors Addict, that’s just a fraction of it and my career as a journalist has seen me cover more topics than you’d imagine! For the five years before starting the blog, I was editor of the largest circulating business owner magazine in Australia, sold in newsagents nationally, and I took its digital reputation to new heights, establishing a strong online and social media presence. I wrote about everything relevant to SME ownership as well as my absolute favourite; writing entrepreneur profiles. In fact, it was during these inspiring interviews that the spark was ignited in me to start my own business, and a decade later, I’m thrilled to still be making a job (and jobs for other people too) out of Interiors Addict.
I write quickly and confidently
As a journalist and editor across newspapers, magazines and online for more than two decades, I can write quickly and confidently on a variety of topics and, perhaps more importantly, in a multitude of styles.
I’ve reported on news, crime and the courts for newspapers around the UK, been an editor at New Scotland Yard in London for the Met Police’s internal newspaper, ghost written top Australian interior designer Greg Natale’s coffee table book The Tailored Interior, proofread legal documents and children’s books, to name but a few of my varied projects.
Experience with brands
At Interiors Addict, I’ve written sponsored blog posts to a brief for a multitude of furniture, renovation and homewares brands. I’ve worked with the likes of IKEA, west elm, Amazon, Selleys and Freedom, as well as many of the smaller guys. And when it comes to these industries, I have been in the thick of them for over a decade. I know the landscape, I know the competitors, the big names, and what homeowners and renovators want to hear about. I can help you cut through the clutter.

MC-ing, speaking, brand ambassadorships, video and TV
While I love words even more than I love interiors, in the past 10 years as a sought-after public speaker and event MC, I’ve become very comfortable with in-person interviewing and drawing people’s stories and strengths out of them through being the interviewer on video, or indeed podcasts. I can create this kind of storytelling for your brand too. If you want to share your knowledge on a podcast or video but cringe at the thought of talking to camera (or mic) perhaps you’d like to engage me to interview you, which in my experience is one hundred times easier, more enjoyable and more authentic.
Need someone to be your brand’s spokesperson on TV? I have had a lot of experience with live TV and you can engage me to do this for you too.
I know about engagement
Above all, as the owner of a long-running blog and someone who spends a lot of time creating content and cultivating a loyal following, I know how to engage an audience. It’s what I do. Whatever the topic and whether you want to communicate via words or video, I can help.
I’m not just here for interiors businesses. Part of being a journalist is quickly becoming a subject matter expert and knowing how to share this information with a variety of audiences who may not yet have that inside knowledge. As you’d expect, I also have a hawk eye for proofreading and editing.
