The third edition of L’Appartamento by Artemest, celebrating Artemest’s 10th anniversary, has been an overwhelming success at Milan Design Week 2025. Set within the historic Palazzo Donizetti—home to the headquarters of Italian fashion house Alberta Ferretti and not typically open to the public—the event featured the visionary work of six globally renowned designers, including Melbourne’s Simone Haag.
Each transformed a room with handcrafted, bespoke, and custom pieces from over 180 artisans, selected from Artemest’s exclusive portfolio of more than 1,000 artisans across Italy.
This year’s installation unfolded within Palazzo Donizetti, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece located at Via Gaetano Donizetti 48. The palazzo seamlessly captures the essence of Italy’s timeless refinement and embodies an eclectic fusion of architectural styles—Renaissance grace, Baroque opulence, and the delicate allure of Liberty.
The interiors boast high ceilings, beautifully detailed frescoes, and an elliptical staircase with an original wrought-iron balustrade that connects the three floors.
Inside, six internationally acclaimed interior design studios—1508 London, Champalimaud Design, Meyer Davis, Nebras Aljoaib, Romanek Design Studio and Simone Haag—each transformed a distinct room, showcasing an extraordinary selection of furniture, lighting, home décor and art by Artemest’s finest artisans, brands and artists.
Upon reaching the first floor of Palazzo Donizetti, visitors were greeted by The Foyer, Simone’s creation, an elegant prelude to the journey. The Foyer set the stage for what lay beyond. Simone embraced its Italianate spirit, juxtaposing historic elegance with contemporary collectible design from Italy’s modern vanguards.
Stepping into the room feels like entering a liminal space between bygone era and a future that perfectly reconciles all the generational wisdom and craftsmanship that defines Italian design. Counterbalancing detailed frescoes, elaborate marble mosaics and a jewelled chandelier, are layered vignettes that draw you in, making space for you to exist within the geography of the foyer’s magnificent narrative.
Rich mural hues flow into sleek, modern pieces, creating a harmonious interplay of eras—an homage to the enduring legacy of Italian design.
