The beautiful transformation of this bathroom and powder room saw Jasmine McClelland Design return for a second project for this client. “With a keen eye for design, they wanted their main bathroom to feel calm, spa-like and elevated with more storage, better layout, and soft, layered textures in a neutral palette. Lighting was another big focus, with the goal of creating a space that felt luxurious enough to unwind in, preferably with a glass of champagne in the bath.”

Sounds good to us!
“For the powder room, they asked for something bold and playful; something that would surprise their guests in the best way,” Jasmine added.
Beforehand, the bathroom, in a three-bedroom worker’s cottage, felt tired, lacked storage, and wasn’t making the most of its layout.
“We kept the footprint largely the same, mindful of both budget and sustainability. Using negative space, we added smart storage and created areas for the clients to display special pieces from their travels.
“We updated the vanity to a floating design and added tall cabinetry with open shelving that connects visually to the walk-in shower, adding strong, continuous lines and balance. We reworked the bath position to make space for a generous walk-in shower, adding a nib wall with a curved glass screen, executed with care by L&G Creative Projects and L.R.D. Glass.”
Lighting was upgraded with ambient options on dimmers throughout, and they designed two custom steel-framed shaving cabinets in collaboration with GrooveFab’s Ben Stratton. “These were both a design highlight and a functional win.”
They also introduced a touch of unexpected navy to tie in with the powder room palette, while still keeping the main bathroom feeling calm and cohesive. The powder room itself became a true feature, full of colour, bold details and personality. The Casamance wallpaper, sourced through The Textile and Fabric Editors, created a secret garden feel that the clients immediately fell in love with.
“Adding storage made the biggest impact,” says Jamie. “It completely changed how the space functions day to day. The custom shaving cabinets were surprisingly affordable for something bespoke. The biggest splurge was the curved tiling, which is now one of the most striking features in the bathroom.”
This project is a beautiful balance of calm and character. The bathroom feels light, considered, and luxurious without being overdone, there’s a real sense of serenity, especially around the bath. The curved nib wall and layered lighting add softness, and the detailing in the cabinetry gives the room a crafted feel.
“The powder room is a complete contrast, and that’s what we love about it,” Jasmine says. “It’s bold, playful and unexpected; proof that small spaces can still make a big impact. What we love most, though, is how the clients responded to it all. Their excitement and trust throughout made the whole process such a pleasure.”
In fact, Jasmine says the renovation is a great example of what’s possible when you have an ongoing relationship with your clients. “Having already worked on other parts of the home together, we had a really clear understanding of their taste and how they live, which meant we could push the design further and introduce more personal, expressive elements.
“It’s always special when clients come back for a second project, it shows trust, and it gives us the chance to keep building on a story we’ve already started.”
