While the dust has settled on The Block studio bathrooms, we thought it would be nice to take a closer look at what each team created this year – what worked, what didn’t and what we really loved. Plus, how you can get the look yourself!
Kyle & Leslie (first place)
Points: 20.5/30 | Spend: $22,362
WA couple Kyle and Leslie took out top place in the bathroom category – the judges were particularly taken with the layout and overall impact of the space. “The roof line, the colour palette, the depth of the room, the tones really pop,” said judge Marty Fox. We love the elegant and lofty roofline and the Beaumont Tiles Fire Fingers Mist Gloss tile.
“This is massive, the quality of that bathroom is insane – the feel, the functionality, the wow factor, make it unique,” says judge Shaynna Blaze.

Leah and Ash (second place)
Points: 24.5/30 | Spend: $19,691
Brisbane’s Leah and Ash created a space that was ‘sophisticated, sultry and gorgeous’ according to judge Darren Palmer who loved the drama of the room but acknowledged that it could be polarising. The curved ceiling, polished Venetian plaster and moody colour scheme make for a unique space that Marty likened to a nightclub bathroom.
“It’s a lot to take in, it makes me feel like I’m in a nightclub, stripped LED lighting, polished curve pass ceiling, walnut timber, green marble, there’s a lot going on,” said judge Marty Fox. Nevertheless, the judges still awarded it second place. We love the Beaumont Tiles Regency Green textured mosaic tile that features on the wall.
Eliza and Liberty (third place)
Points: 23/30 | Spend: $26,262
Melbourne sister duo Eliza and Liberty created a bathroom that earnt high praise from the judges who commended the daring selection of floor and wall tiles but questioned the use of mixed metals (we’d have to agree).
“The feeling in here is divine. It’s got to do with the beautiful colour palette and the very soft contemporary feel this has, which I think is gorgeous,” says Shaynna. Highlights for us include the Beaumont Tiles Artisan Textured Poco Brick tile that features on the floor and in the shower niche as well as the ambient lighting under the vanity.

Kristy and Brett (fourth place)
Points: 21/30 | Spend: $17,534
Adelaide’s Kristy and Brett were going for a day spa feel when they created their bathroom but the judges didn’t think it quite got there. There were concerns over the lack of cohesion and judge Marty didn’t feel that the room was very memorable (ouch!). “It’s a little day-spa. To me the tiles…they are very similar. You know, it’s a little bit bland,” said Marty Fox.
The hero features for us are the Beaumont Tiles Tetra Pavilion Melba Gloss tile in the shower niche, the floor tile (Beaumont Tiles Lakeside Ceppo Shell Microtec Textured) and the elegantly curved vanity.
Steph & Gian (last place)
Points: 20.5/30 | Spend: $22,362
Sydney childhood sweethearts Steph and Gian turned their love of Japanese and Scandinavian style (Japandi) into a studio bathroom imbued with the aesthetic. The judges didn’t like the bathroom’s exposed ceiling beams (too unfinished) but they did love the vanity and judge Darren Palmer praised the couple’s space planning. “Planning wise this is a major success. Having the cavity slider, the raked ceiling, and the skylight, you can see one of the best layouts of the day,” said Darren Palmer.
Personal highlights for us include the Beaumont Tiles Skyline Silver Travertine Mosaic tile that features on the splashback and that beautiful, fluted timber vanity.
