Win tickets to a talk by Coco Republic’s senior interior designer Natasha Levak

October 10, 2012

FacebookPinEmailTweet

Natasha Levak is the latest expert to run a design session at Coco Republic Design School in Sydney and two lucky Interiors Addict readers can win tickets.

Natasha will share professional insight and experience as an in-demand interior designer whose work has featured on the cover of Australian House & Garden and in the pages of Belle. With extensive experience in both residential and commercial interiors, she’ll explain what it takes to break down an interior design brief – from initial interpretation, to concept communication and executing the finished project.

A graduate of UNSW and former assistant stylist at Belle magazine, her six years as senior designer at Coco Republic Interior Design have allowed her to hone in her luxurious yet casual style and become a specialist in large scale interior design.

“I aim to develop spaces that evoke a mood,” says Natasha, “Great interior design is about details; how materials meet both in conflict and harmony.”

Coco Republic Design School Design Sessions are 2-hour intensive workshops hosted by the most dynamic interior designers and stylists in the industry. Held twice monthly and costing $95, each session offers an intimate workshop environment for design enthusiasts to network and learn practical skills.

To be in with a chance of winning one of two tickets to the sessions on either 13 or 16 November, simply comment below why you would like to attend by midnight on Wednesday 17 October.

I think not!

Grab the recipe on the blog this morning via link in bio.
Get to know me! I haven't done one of these in YE Get to know me!

I haven't done one of these in YEARS so there's possibly thousands of you who don't know my back story. Here's a few things you may not know about me!

✔️ I'm English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and I moved here (just for one year) back in 2008😆

✔️ I can't end the day without a bath, even if I get home really late or on a really hot day. It's a mental health thing and my happy place. 🛁

✔️ Before becoming a blogger and running my own small business, I was a journalist from the age of 18. My favourite news gathering times were as a newspaper crime reporter (bit different to interiors!) 📓

✔️ I once worked at New Scotland Yard in London 🚔

✔️I had an interview at Oxford (didn't get in!) but chose not to go to uni at all after being offered a job on the local paper #universityoflife 😁

✔️ My mum died when I was 3, I have an excellent dad and one sister (younger) in the UK ❤️ 🇬🇧

✔️ At school, my favourite subject was French 🇫🇷 and I was head girl 🤓🤓

✔️ I'm addicted to ☕️ , long hot baths and💄 (been wearing it since I was about 14!)

✔️ I'm not a phonecall person and will never ever pick up an unknown number. Ever. They can leave a message 😁

✔️ My favourite cuisine is Japanese 🍣 🍜 and Damian and I honeymooned in Tokyo and Venice

✔️ I have zero design qualifications. I just started blogging about my passion, which is trying to persuade everyone to #heartyourhome That was 11 years ago...

✔️ My favourite tipple is a good GnT or🍷

✔️ Cheesy as it sounds, 💁‍♀️being a mum is my absolute biggest joy in life 🧒👦

✔️ I will never give up my old school paper diary! Has to be A5 and week to view 📖

✔️ My official surname isn't Bishop. I kept my maiden name for work after I got married but changed it for everything else. Often confuse myself!

✔️ I didn't get my Ps until I was 37 and I'm still a terrible parker 😯 🅿️

Hope you feel like you know me a bit better 😘

I'd love to see more colour in Aussie interiors! I'd love to see more colour in Aussie interiors! 🎨

At the end of the day though, it's a matter of personal taste. I love pops of colour but it's not for everyone.

The things that excite me as a 40 year old 🤭 N The things that excite me as a 40 year old 🤭

None of us enjoy laundry (OK, there are a few of you out there who do. Weird!) but we have to do it. And often. So if your laundry bin can be as good looking, functional and space saving as this, then why wouldn't you?!

I've lost track of how many baskets I've thrown out because they've gone soggy or mouldy. They look pretty, sure, but they're not fit for purpose and they're often messy and overflowing.

Here's what I love about his @brabantia_australia one:

✔️ ventilation holes
✔️ no need to remove the lid for small items plus it hides your dirty laundry from view
✔️ easily removable and washable inner laundry bag that velcros back on
✔️ corrosion resistant so fine in bathroom or laundry
✔️ Brabantia make things as sustainably as possible
✔️ compact, sleek, European design
✔️ 10 year warranty
✔️ tall and skinny so takes up less floor in my tiny laundry

The Rolls Royce of laundry bins? I think so 👌🏻

TOLD you this was going to be exciting!

Now I need to know, do you have your laundry basket in the bathroom, the laundry, every bedroom? We used to have one in each bedroom but moved to the laundry-only situation which I much prefer (one for colours and one for whites). My boys know to put their used clothes in the bin in the laundry each night and they're 7 and 3! #raisingfuturehusbands

So says stylist @nataliewalton in her gorgeous new book Style, the Art of Creating a Beautiful Home.

"They are where we gather to welcome guests and entertain. But they are also where we decompress and relax at the end of the day. Increasingly, they are open-plan spaces and need to work within a greater scheme. Bringing all the elements together cohesively requires care and consideration. And, if you want a space that lives up to its true potential, make it personal and create with conviction."

I am about to finish my interior design degree (in 5 weeks!) and am still unsure which direction I would like to take in the industry. Attending a talk like this I feel will help my understanding of certain aspects of the design industry and be extremely beneficial to me. Not to mention my complete adoration of the Coco Republic style…

Having literally just finished a complete painting overhaul of my home interior, I would love to learn the tricks used to then create amazing spaces within my freshly painted rooms. Plus a couple of days off work and in Sydney would be nice.

Would love to attend this session as i’m working my way to be a full time magazine stylist and have assisted on many shoots over the past couple of years, and have recently gone freelance. Would love as much insight as possible from a wide spectrum of stylists to help me develop my own style as well as seeing how others did it. Have loved all previous Coco Republic design sessions I have attended so I’m sure this would be no different!

Oh what an opportunity. I am incredibly keen to get started in the world of interior design. I have been dreaming of fulfilling my passion of interior design for a long time. I’m currently a mum of 3, and have not had a real job in the big person world for 10 years now, with one more year before my last child starts school I want to start to study and I’m excited about getting lost in all the amazing aspects of this industry.

Living in western NSW, there are very few designers (in fact, there aren’t any!) at hand and whilst I’m studying an online interior decorating course, to be in a room with REAL designers would be a fantastic opportunity to learn from the best in the business and meet other inspiring designers!

I’m off to see Greg Natale next week at Coco Republic, as he is my ultimate interior designer crush. I would love to see the contrast and similarities between Greg and Natasha. I am studing at the TAFE Design College and I find the learnings informative but I crave the insights and creativity of the people who have created a path in this area. I just want to absorb all their knowledge and put it into practice.
If I win, I will take notes and write a blog about the experience. I’ll even tweet, fb and instagram too.

Each time someone speak about design , interiors, colours, window furnishing, my heart beat so fast and I get butterflies in my stomach as if I am in love… Actually I am in love… with Interior Design 🙂
I have been hesitant for years about doing an interior design course but here we go doing a diploma and hopefully more after that. I love to hear success stories about designers who followed their heart, passion and dreams and worked hard to be where they are now.( motivates me a bit more and makes me more confident that i will succeed too just in time)

BTW Jen , love your website, got a casual job a colour consultant from your career section not long ago and making some cash + have work experience 🙂
    All the best,

Oh wow. I would LOVE to do this. I have a home that needs help. It’a almost there but I don’t know how to pull it all together and put on the finishing touches to make it luxurious but still casual. I walk into Coco Republic so frequently and love everything but don’t know how to put it in and style it the right way in my home, while making sure it has my own stamp on it. A workshop like this would give me a bit more confidence to trust my style and get it right. Plus, I am trying to resurface back into the world after having too many children in a rather short amount of time and anything that gets me out of the house and puts my brain in a different space is pure HEAVEN. And I plan to career change so I am currently working out what direction that would be. It needs to be creative and if I can gain a little confidence in interiors, it might be the right direction.

Like many others who would also enjoy this prize, my passion and interest in design is something that has been slowly growing over many years. Lately, I have found that every afternoon I get home from work and open Interiors Addict to see what has been put up that day. Looking at design blogs and websites has become a part of my daily routine and I cant live without it! I would love to gain more experience in interior designs, especially things that I can do at home. Having that knowledge from professionals is something I really enjoy especially forming my own sense of interior style. Launching into many design projects is something Im constantly striving to do. Having Natasha’s ideas and plans as a scaffold would be excellent in planning and executing my own design projects. I would love this opportunity!! Elyse ; )
