We put the finishing touches to the Interiors Addict/Nest Designs apartment project we’ve been working on last Thursday night to host opening drinks and reveal the transformation. Here are the photos you’ve been waiting for! We know many of you have been following its progress and the reality behind the scenes of a reno, but what everyone really wants to see are the after shots, let’s face it!
The living area
Emma Blomfield from Nest Designs did a fantastic job furnishing and styling the apartment and I think this living area shows how she nailed a coastal holiday apartment vibe without falling into dodgy, overly-beachy territory (I think we’ve all seen that on a weekend away)!
While there it was great to reference the stunning Palm Beach location here and there, she definitely got the balance just right. Do you agree?
I love these navy ikat chairs from West Elm (below) and apartment owner Judith got these framed maps of the local area (above).
The kitchenette
This was completely ripped out and replaced. It was necessary to be clever with this tight space, hence the slimline dishwasher, built-in wine rack, easy-to-clean surfaces and as many cupboards as possible.
Bedroom 1
It’s a tough call but I think this is my favourite bedroom. It’s just so sunny and fresh looking! I think I need one of those chevron quilts! There’s a glimpse of the water from the window too.
Of course, using local brand Palm Beach Collection, which Emma and I both love, was a no-brainer in this project!
Bedroom 2
This room is versatile enough to be used for kids or friends, and along with the sofabed in the living area, means this holiday unit sleeps up to 5. I like the zesty pops of orange and the twin octopus prints are fab (they look much better in real life) and were much commented on.
Dining area
Bathroom
This is the original bathroom, which was cleaned up and accessorised. When renovating a rental apartment you have to decide where it is worth spending your money and where you can save.
The balcony
The party!
The details
A big thank you to the following brands for lending us accessories for the photoshoot and opening: Have You Met Miss Jones (ornaments, candle holders and decorative accessories), Escape to Paradise (cushions), Willow and Dune (terrariums and flower arrangements), The Home (glass vases, fisherman floats, lanterns, turkish towels, octopus print, Burbia print and striped rug), Love Navy (beach towels), Palm Beach Collection (candles and liquid soap), Wall Studio (canvas art) and Focal Point Home (bathroom towels).
Thanks also to Emma for her excellent sourcing and styling work, and apartment owner Judith Webster for letting us loose on her new investment and letting us share the journey with my readers. On the night, we gave away a weekend at the apartment to lucky reader Nykke Coleman. If you’d like to book it yourself, visit the Beach Stays website.
