After 90 years in business, Laminex has become something of an Aussie icon so it’s rather fitting that its latest collection shares a strong connection to our unique landscape. The 2024 Laminex Colour Collection features calming greens reminiscent of eucalyptus leaves alongside rich, organic yellows that reflect Australia’s tropical rainforests as well as warm, clay-based hues that embody the outback.
“As a proudly Australian owned and operated company for 90 years, the 2024 Colour Collection is admiringly inspired by our striking landscape,” says Laminex general manager of sales and marketing Sacha Leagh-Murray.
With elegant, muted undertones, the new colour range is comprised of nine subtle yet striking hues that work to bring calm and cohesion to any space – the products are designed to be used together, alone or as feature colours within a project.
“Laminex surfaces boast a high degree of durability, making it the perfect material for functional spaces in the home such as kitchens, bathrooms, robes, laundry areas and studies. These are all essential rooms that we engage with daily, so it’s crucial that they not only meet practical requirements, but also offer visual and textural interest,” says Sacha.
Rocky Bay, Coolum Sand, Outback Clay and Platypus are the perfect shades for those looking to embrace earthy neutrals. As the name suggests, Rocky Bay is a slightly greyed, near-neutral white with a pink undertone, and it’s named after the soft warm sands of Rocky Bay on Rottnest Island in WA. Coolum Sand is inspired by the creamy sands of Coolum Beach in Queensland while Outback Clay evokes the soft, dried clay and sands found in New South Wales’ Mungo National Park.
There are soft green tones too – Gumnut, Eucalypt and Daintree are all designed to create a calming effect within the home. Gumnut is a slightly greyed, yellow-based green while Eucalypt offers a soofthing medium-greyed green and Daintree is the sort of organic yellow green that you’d find in a tropical rainforest.
Blue fans are catered to also with plenty of cool tones designed for relaxation and serenity. Macedon Mist is a dusty, tranquil blue (think mountain mists) while Bluestone is a deep, greyed slate shade inspired by the colours on the stones on Tasmania’s Bluestone Beach.
