Dopha is the sofa brand Australia needed. Melbourne-based, female-founded, and here to bring more joyful choices. It’s launching with one signature sofa – designed to be timeless and crafted to last decades.

With washable, swappable covers, they keep the sofa fresh, relevant and out of landfill for as long as possible. Inspired by some of the bolder, moodier and more creative interior design showing up in Australia in recent years, founder Julia Gaw wanted to bring more colourful sofa options to the market, without forcing consumers to stick to that choice forever.
“Some of the more interesting choices we make end up being the ones that bring us the most joy,” she says. “The curiously knobbly ceramic piece you picked up in Oaxaca, the hand-crafted lamp that cannot be replicated, or the wall you painted red on a whim. Those are the kinds of choices I want to make more accessible in sofas. Try a chartreuse couch! Or a black and white striped one! And if you tire of it, or your aesthetic changes over time, please don’t turf that sofa. Just swap the cover for something else you want to try.”

Committed to good value, Dopha encourages you to to keep your sofa for decades, by washing or swapping the cover to keep it fresh. And further embeds this desire to do good by dedicating a portion of profits to homelessness charities in Australia.
“We’re in the business of dressing up the space in your life that feels safe and comfortable, and my hope for the future is that everyone has a place of comfort and safety they call their own.”

Dopha’s first release is available online now and can be seen in person at their Melbourne showroom, by appointment only.

It is estimated that close to a million sofas are put into landfill in Australia every year. Their mission at Dopha is to offer a solution: timeless sofas that last, with changeable covers that keep them new, relevant, and loved for longer.
In doing that, they vow to work hard on adding value to the world. No cutting corners, no choosing cheap over good, never adding ‘stuff’ for the sake of it. And most importantly, they vow to reduce the amount of furniture that goes to landfill each year, by ensuring their customers have a sofa they love, again and again, for 10 years or more.
