As the seasons shift and the days grow cooler, now is the perfect time to introduce warmth and cosiness into the home. Vault Interiors’ principal stylist Justine Wilson, shares the top styling trends for Autumn 2025, offering simple yet effective ways to create a more inviting and comfortable space.

“Autumn is the perfect time to refresh your home and create a warm, inviting atmosphere,” says Justine. “By making a few simple swaps—like introducing richer fabrics, warm lighting, and natural elements—you can effortlessly transition your space for the cooler months while maintaining a stylish and functional interior.”
Brighten up with mirrors and ambient lighting
With shorter daylight hours, maximising natural light becomes essential. Replacing artwork with mirrors helps reflect natural light, making interiors feel brighter. Additionally, layering candles, whether real or LED versions with timers, adds a warm and ambient glow, enhancing the atmosphere as the evenings grow longer.
Layer up with luxe textiles
Soft furnishings provide an easy and effective way to transition interiors for autumn. Swapping out cushion covers from cotton and linen to plush fabrics such as velvet, bouclé, or heavier weaves, instantly creates a cosier atmosphere. Earthy tones, including navy, rust, olive, emerald, and mustard, add richness to the space while reflecting the seasonal landscape.
Introduce extra functional seating
With the shift to indoor entertaining, having additional seating ensures a welcoming environment for guests. Incorporating ottomans or compact armchairs in living areas provides extra comfort without overwhelming the space. In dining areas, stylish stools or folding chairs can be easily stored and brought out when needed for gatherings.
Keep outdoor spaces inviting
Cooler temperatures do not mean outdoor areas should be neglected. Adding outdoor heaters, cosy blankets, and cushions to alfresco spaces allows homeowners to continue enjoying these areas. An outdoor fire pit can serve as a focal point, encouraging guests to gather and stay warm on crisp autumn evenings.
Bring nature indoors
Incorporating natural elements into the home enhances warmth and comfort. Seasonal foliage such as dried flowers, eucalyptus, or pampas grass in vases introduces an organic touch to interiors. Wooden or woven accessories further contribute to a cosy and grounded aesthetic that complements the autumn season.
Autumn is about creating a space that feels warm, welcoming, and effortlessly stylish. With a few thoughtful updates, any home can be transformed into a comfortable retreat for the cooler months ahead.
