I've been meaning to post about getting out of hos I've been meaning to post about getting out of hospital in time for Christmas and spending a magical time with my beautiful family and friends for days now, but I was staying in the moment and off my phone. My wish came true and it really was amazing to enjoy that Santa magic.

Sadly, the day after Boxing Day, I ended up back in an ambulance after an internal bleed where my hemoglobin levels dropped dangerously low. I'm not very good at explaining the medical side, but after surgery and a couple of nights in ICU, I'm now on a ward and recovering well, hoping I get to return home ASAP.

I have so many thank yous to say for the incredible GoFundMe donations and kindness and support I've received. I really am blown away and so grateful. There are so many good people in the world, both strangers and those I'm lucky enough to know.

And having now received 6 bags of blood transfusion myself, another huge shout out to all donors. I felt so good to know I've done my bit donating over the years when I received someone else's life saving donation. Please consider doing the same and potentially saving a life.

Before ending up back in hospital, I was settling in well at home with daily visits from nurses and I'm hoping I can get back to that new normal again soon.

Thank you again to everyone for their kindness. And biggest thanks to @damianfrancis for truly spoiling me at Christmas and once again holding the fort at home. Our boys are so lucky to have you ❤️

Trigger warning: cancer. Home is SO important to Trigger warning: cancer.

Home is SO important to me, I even made a job out of talking about it. And having been stuck in hospital for 5 weeks, away from my sanctuary and my boys, I've never craved it more.

I'm going through the hardest time of my life and I'm finally sharing it here in the way I hope you've always known me to; with authenticity, realness and hope.

I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's devastating and life-changing news and feels very vulnerable to share. Sadly it's causing me so much physical pain, I can't manage it at home. Being stuck in hospital, on top of keeping this secret, has been very isolating.

Our precious boys are our number one priority and we are being very well supported by our medical team and amazing friends and family. I can't say enough about the huge role my husband is playing in keeping us together.

I've continued to work when possible because I love it and it's a big part of my identity. I want as much normalcy, distraction and positivity as possible right now. Some days I put my lipstick on and face the day with gratitude for all the good stuff, like my world class friends and amazing healthcare. But I'm only human and other days, I just can't.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I only have to look at my boys to know I cannot give up hope.

Thanks for all the love and support I know you'll throw my way but please respect my boundaries by not asking medical questions or making medical suggestions, and know that I won't be able to reply to everyone.

This beautiful community has supported me for over a decade and I'm sure your kindness will help me no end. And if you want to support me, keep reading the blog so my work isn't wasted!

I'll still be the main point of contact for Interiors Addict but things will look a little different as I continue my chemo (3 rounds down) and get used to my new way of life.

Right now, my only wish is to be discharged to my family for Christmas.

Because I can no longer give blood, if anyone would like to make a festive donation of blood or plasma on my behalf and share it with me here, that would really make my day ❤️

PS. Nurses are worth their weight in gold.

My partner and I are moving into our first home together in a few months and have been saving to buy bits and pieces to fill it with and make our own. If I were to win, this blanket would proudly drape over the arm of our new couch for all to see – and for me to use in the cooler months of course!

This is so dreamy. I want to set it up under a beautiful beach picnic and in the mean time sit on my couch to match my perfectly pink and gold living room!

I would use my Kate & Kate blanket to decorate my new apartment. The colour combination is just perfect!

  4. Miranda says

I would drape mine over the grey occasional chair in the sunlit corner of our living room next to our fiddle leaf fig.

  5. Kim Hodge says

I would use mine to keep my baby girl that’s due in just over a week nice, snug and warm! It would also be a fabulous matching addition to her nursery!

I would use it everywhere! Outside for when it gets chilly in the evening, on a plane, as decoration on a pretty chair or couch… I love the colours. Usually I’m not that much into colour but with this item it’s so beautifully done that you just have to love it!

I’d hit the park for a picnic and snuggle up with my little ones in my super cute new blanket

The stone pavers in the garden are slowing releasing the warmth of the day’s sun baking. The night air will soon set in, bringing with it a slight chill. I am sun drenched and lounging on the chaise by the pool, starting to doze off.

I hear the pool gate open. Anthony holds out a beautifully wrapped package and then reaches into a shoulder bag and takes out a bottle of icey cold champagne and two crystal flutes.

He reclines on the adjoining lounge and smiles as he watches me open my gift. It’s a gorgeous K&K Blanket from Suprette. It’s the one we saw on our holiday in New Zealand. He must have doubled back for it when I was looking after the kids.

We’re in for a lovely night of enjoying the peace and ambiance of the garden – all snuggled in and sipping bubbly.

    November 6, 2014 at 9:56 am

I’d put it on my daughter’s bed – just the right amount of pink but not too pink for a 7 year old going on 17 !

I would give it to my 3 year old princess to snuggle. Would look seriously amazing in her newly decorated room

This would become my security blanket, reminiscent of my security blanket as a child (only a whole lot more stylish and fab!), to be used while cozying up to Greg Natale’s new book; browsing furniture shops on the weekend; and getting my dose of The Interiors Addict every morning!

  12. Hayley Towers says

    November 6, 2014 at 10:26 am

I would drape ours over our grey couch in the loungeroom, which is in need of some pink and gold (and something to snuggle into when I am on it).

    Things I would do –

    – Keep it away from all pets, children and my partner as I’m sure it would be snuck into various corners of the house before I even had a chance to get close.

    – Sneak it away to my bungalow/studio to use as a throw on the daybed or to keep my tootsies warm on cooler evenings

As where we’d use it I’m thinking as a throw for our lounge. It would be ideal for snuggles with my girls during the cooler months.

This blanket is too good to be unseen in the bedroom, I’d take it with me on picnics in the park, at the open air cinemas, boating or anywhere that makes it be seen

I would make this beautiful blanket “the” blanket for my very soon-to-arrive daughter, her special blanket to be treasured & used throughout all stages of her life, from a precious newborn to the safety of a security blankie as a child, to comfort her through the heartbreak that will no doubt come as a teenager & perhaps one day use it for her own child as an heirloom & family keepsake passed on from Mother to Daughter.

Muted pink, grey and a hint of gold. This is what the three wise men would bring me as a gift! I’m not going to lie, this would be a gift for me, and me alone. Something bright to bring my home officially out of the depths of winter and into the colours of spring. Ps – these clever ladies make me wish my name was Kate.

Going through a very strong pink, grey and gold phase so it caught my eye the moment it appeared on my instagram! Thanks for the chance! 🙂

Once he decides that blankets are not the devils work and sleep is indeed not over rated it will then keep him nice and warm too!

This is gorgeous…We are moving into our new home in a couple of weeks time. My 3 month old has currently been sleeping in our spare room amongst boxes and a spare bed – a room which pretty much looks nothing like a nursery! I have bought some gold polka dot wall decals and a couple of prints for her new room that this blanket would suit perfectly. Fingers crossed x

I’d give this amazing kate & kate blanket to my lovely mother-in-law, always the most generous, thoughtful and loving support to us, she has recently had a terrible run of family ill health and misfortune. She does anything for friends and family, and gives everything she can, volunteering at a hospital to keep her busy and ‘give back’, but I’d love to give her this beauty as a little ray of sunshine to brighten up her home and spirits.

It would be so useful for wine nights, binge chocolate eating and netflix, decor for when friends are over, picnics on the beach…. It’d basically be my go to. As a house frequented my many visitors if know this piece would get a lot of attention.
