Hali Rugs have launched a new collaboration with stylist Jason Grant. Following the success of their initial partnership, they’ve teamed up on a second collection crafted from recycled plastic bottles. But you’d never know it!
With a commitment to environmental consciousness and style, Hali Rugs and Jason have expanded their Coast collection with a fresh colour palette inspired by nature’s hues. “I love soft, faded shades that almost feel sun drenched yet bold but are easy colours to live with. This is a colour palette taken from natural elements that form the environment around me,” says Jason.
These simple and modern designs break new ground in sustainability as they are soft, tactile and feel like wool underfoot, a complicated feat when working with recycled plastics. The rugs are made from bottles found in river systems, scrap heaps and tips, heated and melted into a fibre that is then spun into a pliable yarn. Only natural dyes were used to continue the planet-friendly thread of the collection.
โIโve been going to India since I was 10 years old,โ says Hali managing director Dan Swart. โThe pollution and the waste that is happening today is absolutely bewildering. Being able to reuse some of that waste for a project like this is really powerful.โ
Described by Dan as โhybrid rugsโ the versatile collection can be used inside the home or outside on balconies, terraces and in gardens. Specific sizes were made for wet areas in the home like the kitchen and laundry. Each style is reversible and can be washed down with a high pressure hose and hung out to dry, giving the rugs incredible durability and a long lifespan.
The Hali Rugs X Jason Grant Coast collection will be available for purchase from this month, with prices ranging from $130 to $2,570.
