Goo Collection children’s linen is a family affair

By Jen Bishop •

FacebookPinWhatsAppEmailTweet

It’s always a good sign when you see something designed for kids and think “I wish that came in adult size!”

Whale Time Doona w Boy LRE

I think that can certainly be said for some of Goo Collection’s new children’s bed linen.

Oh Deer Doona w Girl LRE

Goo started as Olive’s Tree in 2009 when Lisa Nicol failed to find a dribble bib which was absorbent enough or she was happy to have her daughter, Olive, wear. Leveraging her mother’s knowledge of sewing and fabric, she created something that was both fashionable and functional and together they hand made bibs and sold them online and at markets. They then branched out into patchwork quilts, putting a modern spin on them.

Oh Deer Cot LRE

In 2011, her sister Sally Davies, with a background in sales and technology, also joined the company, making it a true family affair. It was rebranded as Goo Collection and they expanded again into baby wraps, onesies and quilts, outsourced production and took on retailers around the country.

Now in their second season as Goo Collection, they have further expanded into this gorgeous children’s bed linen, creating a range for the design conscious mum. “We want our products to look like they fit into everyday life around the home and not be overtly whimsical and baby‐like,” explains Sally. “The designs steer away from the stereotypical nursery fare of stripes and fairytale characters. Instead, they are simple and stylish in a contemporary yet soft colour palette. They are products a child can grow with and a mum will be comfortable seeing around her home.”

For girls there’s Oh Deer, featuring a palette of peach, aqua and mint on a neutral creamy base and the motif of a young deer throughout. The boys’ collection is called Whale of a Time, and its palette is crisp white with royal navy, battle ship grey and sky blue, and the motif of a playful, spouting whale.

Whale Time Cot LRE

Lisa, who has an interior design background, says: “Being from a large, tight knit family, we enjoy working together, we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and can leverage them to get the best out of each other. Having mum around as a strong backbone is always reassuring and provides us with the confidence and strength to achieve what we have so far.”

I've been meaning to post about getting out of hos I've been meaning to post about getting out of hospital in time for Christmas and spending a magical time with my beautiful family and friends for days now, but I was staying in the moment and off my phone. My wish came true and it really was amazing to enjoy that Santa magic.

Sadly, the day after Boxing Day, I ended up back in an ambulance after an internal bleed where my hemoglobin levels dropped dangerously low. I'm not very good at explaining the medical side, but after surgery and a couple of nights in ICU, I'm now on a ward and recovering well, hoping I get to return home ASAP.

I have so many thank yous to say for the incredible GoFundMe donations and kindness and support I've received. I really am blown away and so grateful. There are so many good people in the world, both strangers and those I'm lucky enough to know.

And having now received 6 bags of blood transfusion myself, another huge shout out to all donors. I felt so good to know I've done my bit donating over the years when I received someone else's life saving donation. Please consider doing the same and potentially saving a life.

Before ending up back in hospital, I was settling in well at home with daily visits from nurses and I'm hoping I can get back to that new normal again soon.

Thank you again to everyone for their kindness. And biggest thanks to @damianfrancis for truly spoiling me at Christmas and once again holding the fort at home. Our boys are so lucky to have you ❤️

Trigger warning: cancer. Home is SO important to Trigger warning: cancer.

Home is SO important to me, I even made a job out of talking about it. And having been stuck in hospital for 5 weeks, away from my sanctuary and my boys, I've never craved it more.

I'm going through the hardest time of my life and I'm finally sharing it here in the way I hope you've always known me to; with authenticity, realness and hope.

I've been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's devastating and life-changing news and feels very vulnerable to share. Sadly it's causing me so much physical pain, I can't manage it at home. Being stuck in hospital, on top of keeping this secret, has been very isolating.

Our precious boys are our number one priority and we are being very well supported by our medical team and amazing friends and family. I can't say enough about the huge role my husband is playing in keeping us together.

I've continued to work when possible because I love it and it's a big part of my identity. I want as much normalcy, distraction and positivity as possible right now. Some days I put my lipstick on and face the day with gratitude for all the good stuff, like my world class friends and amazing healthcare. But I'm only human and other days, I just can't.

Despite the gravity of the situation, I only have to look at my boys to know I cannot give up hope.

Thanks for all the love and support I know you'll throw my way but please respect my boundaries by not asking medical questions or making medical suggestions, and know that I won't be able to reply to everyone.

This beautiful community has supported me for over a decade and I'm sure your kindness will help me no end. And if you want to support me, keep reading the blog so my work isn't wasted!

I'll still be the main point of contact for Interiors Addict but things will look a little different as I continue my chemo (3 rounds down) and get used to my new way of life.

Right now, my only wish is to be discharged to my family for Christmas.

Because I can no longer give blood, if anyone would like to make a festive donation of blood or plasma on my behalf and share it with me here, that would really make my day ❤️

PS. Nurses are worth their weight in gold.

If I am lucky enough to win this amazing set, I would gift it to my best friend who is due in January. Bestie and her hubby are such an amazing couple who generously give up their time for friends, family and their community. I can just imagine how happy the bestie would be with the Goo Collection style – her to a tee.

Perfect!! Our toddler is about to make the move to a ‘big girls room’ to make way for our new addition and this bedding is the perfect combination of colours! I love the fact that it is also not too over-the-top kiddie and could easily move from toddler to tween to teen!

I would love to win a boys set as we have just moved house and my youngest son is due out of a cot and into a bed imminently. He’s such a trooper and everything he has is my eldest son’s hand-me-downs. I’d love to give him something new! He adores soft toys and “bwankies” (blankets) and come winter I can see him stroking his little face on the snuggly looking blanket pictured above. Goo collection looks fantastic and it’s so nice to see childrens bedding done in soft colours for a calming influence.

I would love to win the boys set as we are moving house and the colours would match perfectly in my sons room as his transitioning into a big bed . This style will never date and as he gets older I wouldn’t have to change it because it suit any age boy.

Gorgeous bedlinen. What an amazing prize. Our eldest will be turning 6 in May and for her birthday we are creating her a new bedroom. A place of glamour, peace, relaxation, fun, and a place that will be cool enough for her to chill with her girlfriends without her ‘annoying’ little sister (her words not mine). So I would love to win the linen for her soon to be created new room. We have already started to collect items so we can pull it altogether for her to create that big girl room she deserves

I have been hunting for the perfect linen set for my daughter’s vintage woodland themed nursery since she was born. At four months, she’s ready to transition from her bassinet in our room to the cot in her nursery, which currently has no linen! The Oh Deer cot set is simply perfect, and would add a feminine burst of colour to a largely neutral palette.

The Goo Collection of children’s bed linen is lovely for girls and boys alike – sophisticated, stylish and modern with great combinations of subtle, yet fresh colours – its really hard to find such lovely linen for children and little ones. If I was the super lucky winner of this lovely prize I would give it to my sister law who would appreciate the colour, practicality and freshness of the designs. Given my sister in law is also expecting her first girl early next year, the gorgeous peach, mint and aqua colours in the Oh Deer collection would be divine for her little girl as she grows. Her two older children ,boys aged 6 and 8 have a bit of a thing for whales so the Whale of a time bed linen would also be appreciated by them as well and I think accepted as pretty cool amongst friends of the their age. Thanks for introducing this great product and line to us Jen.

This would add a nice splash of colour to our dull beige baby room!

A beautiful set would be much appreciated for my little lady, her first Christmas I have to say has very little excitement, this would bring a lovely spark to the dull Christmas we have to look forward to while searching for a place to live. The colours are gorgeous and so much nicer then the overly bright colours you find in the mainstream shops.

GOO Collection is so beautiful and clearly an awesome family business. I would love these for our just turned seven year old boy or my neices as they are child suitable but not garish cartoon themed children’s bed wear. There really is a shortage of stylish children’s linen on the market. What a fabulous idea…so serene and whimsical, using lovely calming colours!! I could style my son’s room around them! Please….

Ma ma is trying to create the perfect room for baby girl
Ma ma is abit OCD so room is still not complete and driving daddy up the wall
Baby is now 4 months and almost ready to move into the big cot in her own room
Ma ma is freaking as she can’t find any stylish and elegant baby bedding (all too babyish if you know what I mean?)
Ma ma just saw your post and have gone ga ga over Goo
Jen please help ma ma complete the perfect room for her perfect baby with the perfect bedding from Goo.

I would LOVE to win a set of this super-gorgeous bed linen for my little one’s nursery! He/she is due to arrive in April and the styling is exactly the look I have in mind. It’s beautiful!

I have two beautiful girls and one little boy who was a beautiful miracle and a lot younger than my girls. I am not sure when he went from baby to 2, in my eyes it was such a blink. He still is my little baby but needs to go from cot to bed. Having decorated beautiful girls rooms with an abundance of beautiful things to choose from i am at a total stand still with “the boy room”. If i don’t become the lucky winner i will definitely be saving hard to purchase my own set for my absolutely gorgeous little man in my life.

My sister and I are little obsessed with your blog! She is 34 weeks pregnant and I would love to get her these sheets as a gift! We’re two years apart, and before she met her now husband we travelled all over the world volunteering together. I’d love to give her these beautiful sheets for her beautiful bub and my parents first grandchild!
