Dinosaur Designs have long been synonymous with trendy and unique homewares that, although often small, have the ability to draw focus in a room. Their new Black Marble range is no exception.
Featuring monochrome colours, the black and white pigmenting creates a marble-like appearance that makes for dramatic pieces. Creative director Louise Olsen says the mood of this collection is different to previous ones. It is much darker and more mysterious.
It still retains Dinosaur Designs’ signature sophistication though, with the final pieces being simple yet bold. A mixture of polished and matte surfaces create contrast, while brass and muted pops of stone white (see below) and grey add points of interest to each piece.
Louise found that the chance to work with darker and subtler tones was a wonderful part of the creative process. “Itโs always so surprising how much a form is changed by its colour and texture.”
Sheย enjoyed exploring the complexity of marble through resin, meaning the final products have the on-trend marble style that is dominating homewares at the moment, while keeping Dinosaur Designs’ traditional resin focus.
The shapes of the pieces are themselves organic and mysterious too. Boulder forms create natural looking pieces, such as the grinder pictured above. Classic Dinosaur Designs shapes such as the Pebble Vase and Earth Bowl look similarly organic, taking on stone and marble tones.
There are also two new pieces in the collection. The brass vase (below) and brass rock ornament are definitely statement pieces, with the gold accent making them a focal point of the collection (and, indeed, most likely of any room they are displayed in).
For those who are fans of Dinosaur Designs’ equally stunning jewellery, petal and pebble-inspired motifs have made for some standoutย Black Marble pieces.
