Doesn’t this winter weather just make you want to stay home all cosy with cashmere throws, gorgeous rugs and moody lighting? Perfect weather for nesting! And thanks to Freedom I have two awesome prizes for your home to give away this week. Yay!
First prize is this amazing giant ikat canvas print which is one of my favourites from their current collection. Not all of us have a spare few grand hanging around to buy art (one day, when I grow up!) but we still want something great on our walls to add interest and colour and make a statement. This one’s BIG and at $599 it’s affordable. But you’d rather have it for free, right?
Second prize is this modern Halo light. You could put this wherever you wanted, on a side table, in a corner on the floor even. The possibilities are endless! And at $99 it’s a lot less expensive than its designer looks would suggest.
So how can you be in with  chance of winning? Easy! You have until Wednesday at noon to comment below, in 50 words or less, the answer to the following question: What makes YOU an interiors addict? The best two will win. First prize is the ikat print and second prize is the light. Good luck!

Like most people I think, the feeling of wanting to be in an environment that suited me and represented me is what has led me towards interior design as a passion. I am an interiors addict, because I am constantly looking (read: real estate stalking) for new ideas and ways to improve my space! I couldn’t live any other way.

My affliction runs deep! My guru Nate Berkus once commented that he was truly a lost design soul because he decants even his aspirin into a cuter jar for aesthetic purposes. I decant everything! Milk, butter, pencils…..EVERYTHING!! And yes, even my medical supplies are in a cute vintage tin!

I’m addicted to colour! Everywhere I go I find myself examining the colours in gardens, on clothes, in the sky as the sun sets and I imagine how I could use them in an interior. The night sky as a dramatic bedroom wall colour, pale pink flowers as a soft throw on a couch & yellow road signs as a hit of colour in an industrial styled kitchen. I’m an addict alright, it’s all consuming!

i know im an interiors addict because i have almost finished my house and im already planning on what colours im going to repaint and what styles im going to try out i have decorations ,throws ,cushions for just about every season but i still go and look for more, i dont have one particular taste that i like so i guess you could say my house is very ecclectic and i love surprising pops of colour and i beleive a space needs to be livable (with three boys very livable.) if im not looking at blogs then i have my head stuck in a magazine or im watching decorating renovating shows on tv, it never gets boring there is always something new to learn to try or to buy ( turns out i may be addicted to shopping also lol)
interiorsaddict says
I wish I had a particular style. It would be a lot cheaper wouldn’t it?!

Little did I know as a young girl that watching HGTV and reading Better Homes and Gardens with my mom would lead me to my passion … Years later, nothing excites me more than choosing the perfect pairing of furnitures, materials, colors and accessories. I loved it so much, in fact, that I decided to pursue my passion with a degree in interior design! After working hard, and graduating with honors, I decided that wasn’t enough … without missing a beat, I went back in pursuit of my bachelor’s degree! Having a hand at designing and planning a space is really what makes me happiest. I can’t wait until graduation so that I can get paid to do the one thing I love – design interiors and spaces that make others just as happy as they make me to create them!

Being a mother of 3 I can honestly say I have never been passionate about anything except for my children. That was until I found interior Design. Im 33 and I have finally found something That i am incredibly passionate about, something that excites me to no end!! Being an interiors addict is strange phenomenon, it creeps up on you. I know I’m an addict because when I’m shopping for shoes, it turns into sheets. When I’m shopping for clothes, it turns into candles. Beware, this affliction can affect anyone at any time!
interiorsaddict says
We were just discussing this in the office the other day. There comes a time in veery girl’s life when shoe shopping turns to cushion shopping. For some it’s a phase, for some it stays forever!

Ughh! Where do I begin?! I changed rooms every three months growing up in my parent’s house… I even made my dad’s office into my bedroom for the fun of it {granted I was 8 and he was NOT happy!}! FIVE years at design school and SIX internships later, I finally set out on making my dreams my reality! And in the meantime, my husband and I are going broke from all the damn design blogs I read! The addiction never goes away… it’s fed daily through all the gorgeous blogs as well as monthly through glossy little mags. And it’s an evolving beast of a thing! But you do meet the *LOVELIEST* people imaginable, and that’s why I keep coming back đ

I know my husband would say ‘Interiors addict may be a slight understatement’… Perhaps an obsession or even a way of life. I love that inner little girlyish excitement you experience when you achieve that ultimate beautifully crafted room, the joy of picking fabrics, colours and furniture and the overwhelming desire for that ‘next project’. The feeling that invigorates, inspires and makes life all that more beautiful. I love being an interiors addict!
Nicole says
I recently started a new job. During my induction the new employee group, of which I was part, toured a large industrial plant. To prove to you I am THE interiors addict I found myself not focussing on the plant processes (which I should have been doing) but rather how I could use the rusty colouring on the processing plant in an interior palette, how I could sand, repaint and repurpose the large wooden cabling spools rotting in a dumping yard and who I needed to talk to in order to claim the discarded industrial light fittings scattered near a disused building! It’s been a few days since my daydreaming and I’ve already secured one contact who can help me… those light fittings and wooden spools will be mine yet!…LOVE Interiors Addict, keep it up Jen!

I know I am an interiors addict, when I log onto to read my favourite interiors porn before my morning coffee and before Facebook (sorry Zukerberg!). I know I am an interiors addict when I created my own range of window furnishings! đ

I’m a rubberneck in uninviting rooms, my head twisting back and forth as I start redesigning and decorating them in my mind. My happy place is anywhere with my head in a glossy homes mag. I blab on about beautiful interior designs whenever I see them. Addicted much? Yes!

I once tracked down a single yard of delicious fabric, to a sleepy, rural town in the UK.., had it express-shipped to Australia, then stayed up till dawn hand-sewing into throw cushions to match table decorations for my birthday bash.

I know I’m an addict, and so does my boyfriend by the fact that when my magazine subscriptions arrive, he knows there’s getting no sense out of me for god knows how many hours. Also by the fact he will no longer accompany me to garage sales, shopping centers or furniture stores in case he gets lost by my overwhelming creative passion!

Charmaine (Charmant Interiors) says
I know I am an interiors addict because I now walk into people’s homes and I think “oh, this place needs a little zing – I would place a vase here, a gorgeous little table lamp over there, etc. etc.” or “omg! there’s too much of everything in this room – it needs a bit of positive and negative space, less stuff on the walls!” I could daydream for hours on how I was going to redecorate their homes. There, I’ve confessed!
Louise says
Im an interiors addict simply because even though I might be running five minutes late for work and fully knowing no one will step inside my house today I make my bed to photo worthy perfection, I’ve even styled my throw on my couch on the way out the door! Seriously an addict! đ
Ashley Curry says
I started styling my girlfriendsâ dollhouses; only a perfectly decorated bedroom will do for Barbie. Afternoons were spent flicking through Vogue Living fantasizing about having my own interiors featured. While learning to drive, I paid less attention to the road and more to the Victorian terrace renovation, subsequently ramming the car in front of me. Forsaking medical school, to my parentâs dismay, I pursued a career in interior design. I have been an addict since birth and wouldnât have it any other way!!!

Colleen says
I know I am an interiors addict, because I believe your home should be a sanctuary. It should be a space that allows you to simply breathe and momentarily close the door on any chaos attached to your life outside. Within its walls lies a sacred space filled with the things you love, your history, and those breathtaking elements that you may not need, but absolutely want. A comfortable, functional, and beautiful space that is imbued with your personality is the ideal. I have yet to achieve this and am on a constant quest to find the missing pieces. But, delving into the world of interior design and decorating, trying new projects, and soaking up all of the inspiration is half of the fun. That may be longer than 50 words. Sorry!
