Join me at the launch of Blog Society as part of Vivid 2013

My talented friend Jaclyn Carlson (of the Little Paper Trees blog) is launching a cool new concept called Blog Society and I was flattered when she asked me to speak on a panel at its launch. Even more exciting, this is happening as part of the fabulous Vivid Sydney festival (the one with the amazing light shows and fab events).

Jaclyn describes Blog Society as “a long awaited community for Australian bloggers, creatives and the endlessly curious to connect, collaborate and share.” The launch also includes an afternoon workshop, where you’re invited to join an ever growing community of Australian lifestyle/design bloggers to learn from and inspire one another.

Myself and Vivian Mansour of Ish & Chi blog, will be sharing our blogging stories before breaking into smaller groups to explore the art of digital storytelling. Then there’s a hands-on, informal styling and photography workshop by Natalie Hayllar from Eat Read Love blog, photographer Madeline Johnson from Mr & Mrs Johnson and photographer Emma Scamell. I’m in store at Freedom! See if you spot me!

You can see them in stores nationally, along with these posters of yours truly! Next time you’re in there, see if you spot me!

I didn’t pick the chair or the side table but I’m a big fan of the vases and the cushions!

The winner of 7 Vignettes March is…

Guest judge Darren Palmer and I were equally impressed with her consistent effort throughout the entire week (never mind the outtakes which have continued to be posted as extras ever since!). This is why she won…

It was such a tricky choice this month with so many stunning entries! I think even Darren might agree it was tougher than judging a room on The Block! But we both feel pretty confident we picked the right person. Darren, who said the quality of everyone’s work was inspiring, added: “Dee definitely had the most vignettes I liked over the week. Great work all round and there were many entries in my shortlist. I was so happy to see such great style and skill out there!”

It’s almost time for the March round of my Instagram photo challenge 7 Vignettes, and next month I’m delighted we have interior designer and judge on The Block Darren Palmer, taking part as our guest judge. Here’s the new list!

This month I’ve compiled the list from participants’ suggestions. I hope you like them! The lovely Darren will be watching the hashtag and joining in the fun, then helping me pick the winner at the end of the week.

Living with an interiors addict (by my fiancé)

In a very brave move, today I gave my fiancé Damian the chance to blog about what it’s like living with me. I must be crazy…

I used to have a collection of interiors books which I kept in my Ikea Expedit bookcase in my bedroom. I was quite proud of them, from Terence Conran’s Storage to collections on small spaces. Sydney property prices being what they are, I was realistic about the size of my first property. I felt like I was in touch with interiors. An interest beat out only by Formula 1… and cars… and travel… and planes… OK, it was a distant fifth, but just go with me here.

In the middle of 2010 (I think – the last few years have been a bit of a blur), I moved in with Jen. We lived in a small two-bedroom Mosman apartment next to the local school. Handy if you had kids. We don’t. I had it in my mind that I was going to turn that apartment around and add New York and Paris inspired minimalist touches that would revolutionise what was quite a bland little pad (Jen hadn’t been there long enough to put her mark on it).
