Win paint and a professional painter to give your home a New Year facelift!

This post is sponsored by Haymes Paint

Christmas and New Year are over so you know what that means (as well as going back to work and the gym)? Countdown to Australia Day is on! To celebrate, I’m running a fab competition in association with Haymes Paints and the prize is to have a room in your home professionally painted in the colour palette of your choice. What a great way for two of you to kickstart any New Year renovation plans!

Haymes colour and concept manager Wendy Rennie has put together three Australian-inspired colour palettes. To enter, just tell us which scheme you think is most Aussie and why.

Here are your choices:

Palette one: The Outback

The Australian outback is rich with colour – deep oranges, reds and ochres coupled with contrasting charcoals and neutrals.

Haymes colours: Rapunzel, Night Moves, Black Pitch, Worn White, Moon and Stars.

Palette Two: Sun, Surf and Sand

The relaxed lifestyle of Australians is synonymous with the beach, particularly as we are lucky to have some of the best beaches and coastline in the world.

Haymes colours: Barely There, Basic Instinct, Blue Mosaic, Danube Sky, Valley of Stars.

The winner of the BedNest giveaway is…

Ashlin Fong from WA! Congratulations!

She sent in this room photo and we chose her because we loved her reasoning behind why it was her dream sanctuary. I think it’s very Carrie Bradshaw too, Ashlin! It doesn’t hurt that navy and hot pink is one of my favourite colour combinations and you can’t beat adding a touch of gold!

BedNest owner Nicky Line, who judged the winner with me, said: “I really liked the combo of contemporary and pretty working together. I love the feature wall and parquet floor.”

Ashlin wins the upholstered Maddison bedhead worth $1,699. Everyone who entered will be emailed a 10% discount code to use by the end of February.

Win tickets to a talk by Coco Republic’s senior interior designer Natasha Levak

Natasha Levak is the latest expert to run a design session at Coco Republic Design School in Sydney and two lucky Interiors Addict readers can win tickets.

Natasha will share professional insight and experience as an in-demand interior designer whose work has featured on the cover of Australian House & Garden and in the pages of Belle. With extensive experience in both residential and commercial interiors, she’ll explain what it takes to break down an interior design brief – from initial interpretation, to concept communication and executing the finished project.

A graduate of UNSW and former assistant stylist at Belle magazine, her six years as senior designer at Coco Republic Interior Design have allowed her to hone in her luxurious yet casual style and become a specialist in large scale interior design. [Read more...]

The winner of the Heatherly Design bedhead is…

Sally Byrne!

I had so many great entries I couldn’t choose the winner! I get too emotionally involved! So I sent a shortlist to Georgie from Heatherly Design and she picked Sally Byrne. I have to admit, her entry was beyond innovative! Top marks for effort! See below her before and after, where she employed some positive visualisation techniques (as well as some blu-tack and string) and it worked!

Darren Palmer & Stacey Kouros front competition to win a $10,000 room makeover

Launching today, Carpet Court’s Love the Look is a competition giving Aussies with a keen eye for interior style the chance to win a $10,000 room makeover in their home.

Carpet Court and its ambassadors Darren Palmer and Stacey Kouros, who both shot to fame on reality TV show homeMADE, are calling on interior design enthusiasts throughout Australia to share their style inspirations through a series of six weekly Facebook tasks.

The tasks will be simple. Darren and Stacey will be asking entrants to share images that have inspired the looks in their homes. It may be a holiday snap that has inspired an outdoor space, or a photograph of a statement piece that has been passed down through generations. They’ll be showcasing their different styles, and asking entrants to pick ‘Team Darren’ or ‘Team Stacey’ with each entry.

There are 12 weekly prizes to be won including Vera Wang Wedgewood china, digital cameras from Canon, and outdoor furnishings and designer rugs from Carpet Court.  The grand prize includes a $10,000 styling budget from Carpet Court and styling advice from either Darren or Stacey (depending on which team the chosen winner has picked). Sunday Snippets: the best of the week in interiors

  • I shared this competition from the Life InStyle trade fair which I’m judging alongside Mr Jason Grant and Lucy Feagins of The Design Files blog. Have you entered yet?
  • I enjoyed interviewing Melbourne interior designer David Hicks, who just opened an LA office and had some great stuff to share about design.
  • I launched my competition with Wicked Wix to win a year’s worth of candles and the good news is, you still have until noon on Friday to enter. What are you waiting for?!
  • Ex Real Living style director Mr Jason Grant offered Interiors Addict readers an EXCLUSIVE opportunity to join him for a VIP shopping tour around Sydney, visiting his favourite stores with him and learning stylist secrets. There’s still time to book your place for next week.
  • I featured a cool new product that lets you hang plants upside inside. No, I don’t really understand how it works either, but it’s pretty clever!
  • A stunning Art Deco inspired bar opened in Melbourne’s Brunswick on Friday night and I shared some snaps with you beforehand.
  • I reviewed this lovely book New Vintage by stylist Tahn Scoon.
  • I spent Saturday morning at a session with super stylist Megan Morton about putting the love in your home. It was awesome. Read all about it. Her home is in the current issue of Vogue Living. Well worth a look.

This coming week I’m looking forward to attending the Writing about Interiors, Style and Design evening class at Sydney Writers’ Centre. I know I shouldn’t really need it, right? But I think you can always learn something new and it’s great to hear other people’s perspective on things.

What are you doing this coming week? Jen x
