When a candle’s this good, a girl’s gotta blog it

This is one of those candles. I am lucky enough to get sent a LOT of candles and this was another of those gifts. Nest Fragrances is a New York candle brand. When I Instagramed it (is that a verb now?), an American friend was like “Oh my GOD, I didn’t know you could get that brand here, where can I get one?” in such an excited way I thought I must be in for something good. I was right.

Sunday Snippets: the best of the week in interiors

Last week I was super busy and I neglected to write my usual Sunday best of post. I hoped nobody would notice but Greg Natale (of all people!) did, so I thought I’d better up my game this weekend, busy or not (busy, if you’re asking, but what’s new?).

On Tuesday I went to the launch of fashion designer Akira Isogawa’s third collection for Designer Rugs at Simmer on the Bay in Sydney. It was packed. More than 200 people! I didnt have the pleasure of meeting Akira one on one but he gave a lovely speech and seemed like such a genuine, humble and artistic soul, who charmed the crowd. The rugs are stunning, of course. I was so happy to finally meet Shaynna Blaze, my long time online friend, in real life for the first time too!

Thursday I went to the VIP launch of Ikea’s latest PS range where it was great to catch up with fellow bloggers Viv from Ish & Chi and Rebecca from Wee Birdy, and stylists Mr Jason Grant, Glen Proebstel and Erin Michael. The range was displayed at a pop-up gallery in Oxford Street, which was was then open to the public until today. I really loved a few of the pieces, including a cool bamboo dining table. New TV show will pay to renovate your home

A new show on one of the major networks (which I can’t tell you or I’d have to kill you) is looking for people who own their home but don’t have the cash to renovate it and need a helping hand.

“We’re looking for people who own a home that’s in dire need of renovation (essentially a renovator’s delight) who also have the desire to roll their sleeves up and do the renovating themselves,” said a spokesperson. “If they get selected for the show, we’ll cover the renovation costs and there’s a big cash prize up for grabs. We’re not looking for experts – just vibrant personalities with a little know-how and a strong idea on how they want their dream home.”

A touch of Dutch in Australia with HK Living

Dutch interiors label HK Living is now available in Australia and the response has been overwhelming.

It’s has been brought here by Ursula and Hans Van Schoonhoven, who have been showcasing the best of Dutch design at their store House of Orange in Armadale, VIC, for years.

Retailers are falling over themselves to stock HK Living in their stores, with 40 signing up in the first fortnight. Hans says: “The reception has been unbelievable. I’ve never encountered anything like it.”

The stylish couple are having a really good July because their beautiful home is also on the cover of the current issue of Real Living magazine.

The collection is described as “pure, rustic and beautiful”. We’re lucky to have a sneak peek at these photos, shot in Amsterdam just the other week. The products aren’t even all in the country just yet but they will be soon and they’re available for pre-order. [Read more...]

More than 200 attend Akira Isogawa’s launch party for Designer Rugs

It was one packed out party at Simmer on the Bay in Sydney’s Dawes Point for the launch of fashion designer Akira Isogawa’s third collaboration with Designer Rugs, Hirameki. Everyone talked about how humble and charming Akira was. Nothing like the fashion stereotype! He spoke with the kind of passion only  a real artist can. Vogue Living editor David Clark and Designer Rugs’ Yosi Tal also gave speeches.

Interiors Addict (finally) meets Shaynna Blaze!

Shaynna Blaze and I have been chatting on Twitter since before I had this blog. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s been a couple of years! Back then I’ll confess I didn’t even know she was on the hit show Selling Houses Australia because I don’t have Foxtel. I know, right?!

Tonight we finally met IN REAL LIFE at the Akira Isogawa for Designer Rugs launch! But it was very bizarre because we both felt like it couldn’t possibly really be the first time! I meet people for the first time who I’ve only ever met online ALL the time. But with Shaynna (cheesy as I know  this sounds) it was like chatting to an old friend! She was, I’m pleased to report, just as I imagined. What a pleasure to finally meet!

More on the Designer Rugs event tomorrow.
